The Elayna - Inspired by art deco
Art Deco interiors (roughly 1920sβ1930s) are defined by a few signature moves that would translate beautifully to a pool room:
Materials & finishes β Lacquered wood (ebony, rosewood, walnut), polished chrome, brass, mirrored surfaces, marble, exotic veneers, and inlays. Think high-gloss and reflective. Leather (often in deep jewel tones or oxblood) shows up on seating.
Geometry β Strong symmetry, stepped forms (like the Chrysler Building), sunburst and fan motifs, zigzags, chevrons, and streamlined curves. Patterns are bold and graphic.
Color palette β Rich and dramatic. Black and gold is the classic combo, but also deep emerald, sapphire, burgundy, cream, and silver. High contrast is key.
Lighting β Geometric sconces and pendants in frosted glass, chrome, or brass. Stepped or fan-shaped fixtures. Indirect cove lighting was popular. A statement chandelier with angular glass elements would anchor a room.
Furniture silhouettes β Low-slung, curved, and luxurious. Club chairs with rounded backs, waterfall-edge cabinets, mirrored bars, tufted leather.
Decorative details β Lacquered screens, stylized animal and floral motifs, Egyptian and Aztec influences (after King Tut's tomb discovery in 1922), velvet drapery, patterned marquetry floors or geometric rugs.
Tie-ins for a pool table post:
A pool table with a dark lacquered or ebonized frame, brass or chrome hardware, and inlaid geometric detailing on the rails fits the style perfectly.
Green felt already nods to Deco's jewel-tone palette β pair with brass pockets for that black-and-gold drama.
Surround it with a fan-shaped pendant light overhead, a mirrored bar cart, tufted leather club chairs, a chevron-patterned rug, and sunburst wall art.
Key phrase to play with: "Gatsby's game room" β instantly evokes the era.
