This beautiful hutch went from a classic cream white to a bold, beautiful blue for a family who already loved this piece and thy didn’t want to replace it—they simply wanted to give it a new look and a new chapter in their home.

A fresh color can completely transform a piece of furniture.

A Little Furniture Transformation ✨

This one was a little extra special because I refinished it for my son. ❤️

It started out as a dated, dark wood table that had definitely seen better days. A little prep, some paint, a fresh finish, and a new pop of hardware later… and it has a whole new look.

I went with a classic deep charcoal/black for the base and kept the wood tone on top to add some warmth and contrast. The new gold-toned k**b was the finishing touch.

Not every piece needs to be replaced. Sometimes it just needs a little vision, some elbow grease, and a fresh start. 😉

A Hope Chest, Refreshed 🤍

This beautiful hope chest has a story.

It was given to a woman by her husband—a special piece meant to hold the things she was saving for her future and the life they were building together.

Over the years, it had naturally started to show its age. But instead of replacing it, she wanted to refresh it while keeping the meaning and memories that came with it.

So that’s exactly what I did.

I gave the body a fresh, soft white finish while keeping the beautiful wood top and trim exposed. The original details and character are still there, but the piece now feels lighter, brighter, and ready for the next chapter of its story.

I love projects like this because furniture doesn’t have to be brand new to be beautiful.

Sometimes it just needs a little refresh. ✨

And this hope chest gets to keep doing what it was always meant to do—hold memories, treasures, and a little bit of hope for the future. ❤️

Refinishing a 90s hope chest for a customer got me thinking…

How many of us Gen X women are still carrying hopes that expired years ago?

The dreams we were told to have.
The roles we were expected to fill.
The life we thought we’d be living by now.

This old chest isn’t becoming what it was.

It’s becoming something better.

Before & After
My son had found this piece a few years back & it’s been sitting collecting dust.

So I finally decided to drag it out and finish sanding down this solid pine chest.

Added a rich brown stain & a pop of green on the inside.
Great for storing blankets, or whatever you like.

Even though I don't work in the field I got a degree in(way back when-fine arts/graphic design) a paintbrush always seems to find its way into my hand. Giving the kitchen a refresh with some paint. It's incredible what a fresh coat of paint can do 🎨
