Office entry systems have to do two things at once: Let light move through the space, while still giving employees separation and privacy.

This metal and glass entry system was fabricated for an office environment where openness mattered — but so did focus, durability, and daily use. The framing, glass, and hardware were built to fit the space exactly and installed as one coordinated system.

We sourced the Airstream, craned it onto the rooftop, and custom-built everything inside - from the booth-style banquettes to the wall and ceiling panels. Now it’s not just a conversation piece, it’s usable square footage with integrated lighting and a vibe all its own.

When most people saw a rooftop patio.
We saw a chance to level it with something bold! 🌆

A desk doesn’t have to be JUST a desk. For this hospitality lobby, we created a custom concrete receptionist desk with exposed rebar! It anchors the entryway lobby without competing with the rest of the build. No need to over-style something when the material already speaks for itself.

You’ve seen photos, but nothing beats standing in front of it! This suspended school of metal menhaden shifts with the light, moves like the ocean, and usually stops people mid-sentence when they see it from the front lobby, or sitting area. 🎣

We’ve worked on a few things at the Beaufort Hotel over the years, but this one brings it all together - a true collaboration of Beaufort’s history and creative engineering.

This project was always about more than just the design, it was about telling a story and honoring the town's history.

Menhaden fishing shaped Beaufort for generations — fueling the local economy, supporting families, and defining the rhythm of this coastal town. 🎣🌊

We chose the menhaden not just for how they move, but for what they represent. It felt like the right way to honor the past while building something forward-thinking.

Turning this idea into something that moved took the right partner - and for us, that was Bland Hoke!

We first met Bland through his work in Jackson Hole, and since then, he’s become both a close friend and a trusted collaborator. When we brought the concept for this piece to the Beaufort Hotel, we knew he was the one to help bring it to life.

Together, we developed a custom gear-driven system that allowed each fish to move on its own, while still flowing together as one school.

Wondering how this stunning school of fish came to life at the Beaufort Hotel?

Beaufort sits along the coast in eastern North Carolina, a town shaped by water, fishing, and stunning views. We wanted to create something that felt like it belonged here. Something that moved. Something that told a story without needing to say a word, and most important something unique!

We reached out to longtime collaborator, and friend, Bland Hoke to help bring the vision to life, and together we began shaping a concept that would live at the heart of the hotel.

This was about more than creating a focal point. It was about designing something guests could feel the moment they walked in.
