Built That

Built That We work with you to create the best customer-contractor relation. Be it a complete original Built Th I build. Simple. Clear. To the point. I don't mind technology.

Since I was a child, I was always exposed to the element of construction. Everything from woodworking to welding, cement construction to furniture. No, I wasn't a child laborer. I just had a versatile grandfather. He was a guiding vector in my world. Always has been, always will be. I am grateful for the foundation he blessed me with. My family is incredibly important to me. They are the inspirati

on for my labors and designs. As with most of us, my youth was a time of exploration and lessons – some not always the easiest to learn but necessary and worthwhile. Today, I am a proud father and husband. Raquel, my loving wife of 23 years, shares my goals and ideals. Our three children teach us as much as we teach them. In my life's journey, I have been apprentice, foreman, project manager in different construction industries, been a "fuelie" in the Navy, studied architecture and design. And I have watched technology burst into the public eye and consume everything in its path. It serves a purpose and it's a fantastic tool. But it's a tool - not the end product. The end product is what is left behind for others to enjoy and admire. To utilize. To endure. You want to be comfortable in your environment - I can help you there. You want to reinvigorate your home – I can help you there. I can see potential. There is something about building and shaping our living environment that speaks clearly to me. I love looking at spaces and seeing the potential. How can a living room be better used? Or better yet how can it be infused with the inhabitants' energy? How can I make your home better?

We came in contact with someone that removed a tub and converted it to a shower. Very common.
But they had some issues when they were done. No water drained out.

We went to look and sure enough water didn't flow even under pressure. This is a rare case for it to go this bad, but the multiple missteps found were worth sharing.
1. DO NOT WASH DOWN CEMENT, CONCRETE, THINSET, MORTAR, SAND, DOWN THE DRAIN. Not even a little. It does not go past the trap and WILL eventually harden. Even if you don't get enough down there to complete plug you will drain slower.
2. Do not leave the old trap in a floor then add another trap. You will drain slower, have gurgling, and never be able to snake that drain if you needed to.
3. Some form of liner is required. Building codes mandate it, and I get it DIY..... Codes shmodes..... But with no liner, it will seep to the adjacent spaces. So vinyl liner, liquid membrane (my preference), old school tar. Something.
