Michael’s Custom Upholstery LLC is an upholstery shop with 51 years of experience dedicated to high-quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service. We are seeking a reliable and motivated Fully Skilled Upholsterer(s) as well as a Sewer/Seamstress to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for quality, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various fabrics and materials.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an Upholsterer or Upholstery Sewer in the following sectors: commercial, residential, marine, automotive, aircraft and custom fabrication. Twenty (20) years of experience of custom builds and commercial fabrication is a plus.
• Proficiency with common upholstery tools, including air-powered staplers, drills, foam cutters, hand tools, tack pullers, scissors, etc.
• Ability to cut, sew, work with various upholstery materials or other products according to designs, patterns, work orders and minor furniture repairs
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
• Physical ability to lift furniture of various weights.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
• Experience with commercial sewing machines and hand sewing

Mid-Century chairs are ready for our clients. The upholsters cleaned up and restored the finish on the wood and replaced the foam. The chairs were recovered in Winward AWN409 Serenity vinyl. They look amazing in white. This vinyl features a stain resistant acrylic topcoat. Cleans easily with a mild soap and water solution and a clean cloth.

Reupholstering is a way of recycling older furniture into a new piece. Let's keep these beautiful pieces of furniture out of the landfill. Did you know Michael's Custom Upholstery has a rescue furniture program. If you have true antique or older furniture, send us a photo. The owner will determine if the piece(s) are worth rescue. Any client looking for older furniture (for personal use) is welcome to go through the rescue furniture. Once the client has made a selection from the rescue pieces, we do not charge for the actual furniture, but will charge the client to have the pieces restored and upholstered here at Michael's Custom Upholstery.

Antique rocker restored. The client selected Sateen LL3115 Bourbon leather from Douglass Interior Products right here in Bellevue, WA. Our craftsmen did a mighty fine job in restoring this antique rocker. From tying springs, replacing foam / padding, restoring the wood finish, to adding a new cover. Seeing antique furniture brought back to life is amazing!

Presenting the before and afters for this beautiful antique walnut carved settee. This family heirloom is ready to hand down to the next generation. Thank you to Cyphers & Kallender Refinishers for the wood work repairs and touch ups to those repaired areas. Our upholsterers restored the settee by retying springs, adding new padding, and a new cover. The fabric chosen by the client is Charlotte Fabrics 8859 Spice, a heavy duty tapestry. Always nice to see such a beautiful piece handed down to be enjoyed for many years to come.

Here is a sofa reupholstered in time for the holidays! Our client chose Charlotte Fabric's D374 Heavy Duty Fabric in the color Coastal. This fabric is enhanced with a Crypton finish that permanently repels liquid, stain, soil, and odor. From afar, the fabric looks a sold blue, but up close, there is a nice small pattern to it.
