⚡ Just Because It’s Not an Old House Doesn’t Mean Things Can’t Fail!

Brayer Electric recently went out to troubleshoot an outlet that stopped working in a home built in 2008.

💡 Did you know? Outlets, switches, and breakers can have a life expectancy of around 20–25 years. That means homes built in the early 2000s are starting to reach an age where electrical components may begin showing signs of wear or failure.

If you have outlets that quit working, switches acting up, or breakers giving you trouble, it may be time to have them checked.

Brayer Electric recently found a microwave plugged into an outlet that had been wired to NM-B cable and shoved inside the wall behind the microwave.

To make matters worse, the microwave was tied into a lighting circuit. Every time the microwave turned on, the lights would noticeably dim—a clear sign that something wasn’t right.

Brayer Electric fixed it the right way: We ran a new dedicated circuit for the microwave, eliminating the load from the lighting circuit and leaving the customer with a safer, properly wired setup.

Electrical shortcuts might work for a while, but that doesn’t make them safe.

👋 Hey everyone, I’m Doug Brayer! ⚡

I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and the family behind Brayer Electric LLC.

I’m the electrician you’ll see out in the field, and my wife, Charlynn Brayer, handles the admin side of the business and keeps everything running behind the scenes.

We live right here in Roy, Washington, where we’re raising our two kids, Abby and Kane, along with our crew of 2 dogs and 4 cats! 🐶🐱

⚡ Brayer Electric is a small, family-owned residential electrical company. We handle everything from troubleshooting and repairs to remodels, lighting, panel and service upgrades, EV chargers, generator hookups, and more.

One of the reasons I’m proud to be a small business is that I’m not showing up to your home with a sales quota. With some of the bigger companies, the focus can sometimes be on selling upgrades or services you may not actually need. That’s not how I want to do business.

When I come to your home, my goal is to find the problem, explain your options, and give you an honest recommendation. If something doesn’t need to be replaced, I’m going to tell you. If there’s a simpler and more affordable way to safely get the job done, we’ll talk about it.
