The Bubble Chair’s quirky ‘inflated’ design takes inspiration from Jeff Koons’ balloon art. It’s soft on appearance and hard to touch, looks playful but is equally sombre with its grey finish, and since it’s made from metal, it remains cold in cooler atmospheres, and becomes hot in warmer temperatures. Like designer Grigorii Gorkovenko says, “what can be said about BUBBLE for sure – is that nobody can call it boring.”

CH07 The Shell Chair-The design was conceived by Hans J. Wegner – a legendary figure in Danish Modernism and a famous furniture designer, who had a great passion for chairs; thus his nickname “the Master of the Chair”. The form of the chair is rather ascetic, yet sophisticated and unusual. Its design embodies its creator’s famous credo, which claims that: “A chair should have no rear view. It should be beautiful from all sides and angles."

The Velo Chair-Designed by UK-based product designer Jan Waterston. This bent plywood chair was inspired by the shapes of modern bicycle designs.
“(The) relationship between body and object is echoed in bicycle design with tubes flowing seamlessly into one another, constantly changing shape, to improve function and aesthetic,” explains Waterston. “The Velo Chair is a response to modern bicycle design with its components seamlessly wrapping around the user, constantly changing form for comfort and then blending into the next component, leaving the user feeling at one with the chair.”

The Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair was the culminations of a new technique that Jacobsen pioneered with the Egg. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen first sculpted the Egg out of clay in his garage so he could perfect the shape. He then molded the Egg Chair out of a strong foam inner shell under the upholstery. The result is a wholly unique shape, meaning the Jacobsen Egg Chair affords privacy in otherwise public spaces.
