The first of the matched set of "guitar tables" is complete. They've been upcycled with the materials and techniques common in high end electric guitars. The tops of the tables are two bookmatched AAAA grade Tiger Maple veneer dyed repeatedly to emphasize the tiger figure in the maple, surrounded by African Wenge trim. They have been finished with nitrocellulose lacquer that was hand polished to a high gloss.

High gloss finishes are hard to photograph, but here are some pics that are the best I can do with what's available to me.

And that, my friends, is a dead flat finish. That reflection is nearly distortion free. All done by hand.

Some of the objects I work on are expensive. Others are priceless. Here's priceless: A grand dad brought me this laser engraving on bamboo; it's a drawing by his grand daughter. We wanted to increase the contrast between the etching and the background (us grandfathers and our old eyes!) and put a nice finish on it.

This is easily one of my favorite projects so far, because I'm a sentimental fool.
