I just want to congratulate Senior Chief John Parkin and his beautiful wife Kari Parkin and 2 children on Johns retirement of 26 years in the United States Navy!
My husband and John met back in 2004, I think, when they were both stationed in Dubuque on recruiting duty. John and Kari have been good friends for a long time and I am so happy for them to finally be able to live life out side of the Navy and all the curve balls it can sometimes throw at you.
I wish I could have been there today to celebrate you! I want to thank you BOTH and the boys for your service as it takes a great support system for our military members to do all the things they need to do! I wish you all the best in your next chapter and hope we get to hang out soon!

It's been a super busy year so far here at NIU!

One thing I am noticing is a lot of people are having issues with their boat covers new and old, the snaps are becoming hard to snap on or snaps are pulling out of the covers. Here is a product I use here at the shop to help with that. It's a snap and zipper lubricant. It doesn't have to be this specific brand, there are plenty out there to choose from. This one is the size of a chapstick and you just rub it across the stud on the boat and then snap the snaps on a couple times to get the lubricant worked in. Do this a couple times a year and you will notice a huge difference. You shouldn't have to break your fingers or hands just trying to put your boat cover on!
This is also used on zippers. If you have an enclosure on your boat or if you have a boot for your bimini, tents, jackets or any zipper, slide it across the zipper and zip and unzip the zipper a few times. You will find that your zipper slides a lot easier and saves you from breaking off the tabs on your zippers! Saves you a little money in the long run.
I buy mine on Amazon I think I got a package of 6 for $8. Super cheap way to save you frustration, time and achy hands!
