This Labor Day, we are grateful for every person who uses their time, strength, skills, and heart to make our community stronger.

Under this roof, lives are changing.

Getting Ahead is one of the programs happening inside CRC that gives people space to learn, build resources, strengthen relationships, and work toward greater stability.

It is one more reminder that this roof protects far more than a building.

After years of repairs and patches, CRC’s roof must now be fully replaced. Atrium Health Floyd has committed up to $130,000 in matching support, and now our community is working to raise the other half.

The heart of CRC is seen in the way our volunteers serve. 💙

Recently, we had the opportunity to recognize several volunteers who especially reflected CRC’s core values—Integrity, Respect, Connection, Stewardship, and Hard Work.

What meant the most was seeing how proud they were to be recognized.

These awards weren’t simply about how many hours someone served. They were about how they served—how they treated people, how they cared for the work, and how they helped create the kind of place we want CRC to be.

We are so grateful for the volunteers who live out these values every day.

August has kept CRC moving — and so has the food on our shelves. 💛

With so many neighbors coming through the pantry, some of the everyday staples go quickly. This is a great time for your church, workplace, Sunday School class, civic group, or group of friends to host a simple food and supply drive.

A few things we can especially use:

🥜 Peanut butter
🍇 Jelly
🍑 Canned fruit
🥫 Canned proteins like chicken or tuna
🧻 Toilet paper
🧻 Paper towels
🧼 Everyday household essentials

You don’t have to organize something huge. A few people collecting a few items each can make a real difference.

Help us keep the shelves ready for the next neighbor who walks through the door.

Dignity matters.

For someone experiencing homelessness, something as simple as a shower and clean laundry can mean comfort, confidence, and the ability to face the next day with dignity.

Through Opportunity Bridge, CRC provides access to showers and laundry for some of our community’s most vulnerable neighbors.

This is one more thing happening under the roof we are working to protect.

After years of patches and repairs, CRC’s roof must now be fully replaced—and thanks to Atrium Health Floyd, your gift toward the roof campaign is matched, dollar for dollar, up to $130,000.

That means every $25 becomes $50.
Every $100 becomes $200.
And every gift moves us closer to raising our half and replacing the roof.

We are so proud to congratulate Becky Osby on receiving the Hometown Hero Award from Modern Woodmen!

Becky is a longtime, dedicated volunteer who works tirelessly sorting, organizing, and stocking our dry goods so they are ready for the families who walk through our doors. Her work often happens behind the scenes, but the difference she makes is felt throughout our entire community.

And the best part? You can make a difference, too.

Being a hometown hero doesn’t always mean doing something big. Sometimes it simply means showing up, giving a little of your time, and using your hands and heart to serve your neighbors.

Becky is a wonderful example of just how much of an impact one committed volunteer can make. ❤️

Recently, one of our guests came into CRC Chattooga hoping to find something many of us may take for granted—a pair of shoes that actually fit her.

When she found a pair in our Clothes Closet, she was overjoyed. She told our volunteers she never wanted to take them off—even to sleep in them. Her excitement brought tears to the eyes of our volunteers and reminded us just how much a simple donation can mean to someone.

Right now, we especially need MEN’S CLOTHING donations! 👖👕👟

Our Clothes Closet is more like a free thrift store for the families we serve. Clothing, shoes, household goods, personal care items, and other donated non-food necessities are available through our point system, but everything is completely free to our families.

So, gentlemen—maybe it’s time for a closet clean-out! 😉 If you have gently used shirts, jeans, pants, jackets, shoes, or other men’s clothing you no longer wear, consider donating them to CRC Chattooga.

That shirt hanging in the back of your closet may not mean much to you anymore.
But to someone who needs it, it could mean everything. ❤️

Help us restock our men’s section and continue giving our neighbors the opportunity to find what they need with dignity.
