Where Art Meets Heritage:

In the heart of the Appalachians of Tazewell, Virginia, Cindi Killen Lamie has found a way to blend her love for tradition, nature, and creativity into something truly extraordinary. Through her work at Killen Time Creations, she transforms forgotten furniture into stunning pieces of art, breathing new life into what others might discard.

Cindi's journey is deeply rooted in her Appalachian heritage. After years away, she returned to her childhood home in 2022—a 1903 treasure steeped in family history—and began restoring it with the same care and passion she brings to her art. Her creations are more than just furniture; they're a celebration of resilience, transformation, and the beauty of the natural world.

A Fusion of Art and Sustainability
Cindi's work is a nod to the harmony between recycling and honoring the environment. By repurposing old frames and furniture, she highlights the beauty of the forest and the importance of preserving our natural resources. Each piece tells a story, blending restoration with reinvention, and reflects the Appalachian tradition of respecting the land and its history.

Through Killen Time Creations, Cindi continues to honor the past while reimagining the future, one piece of furniture at a time.

Stocking stuffers are a big thing with my in-laws but the problem with stuffing a stocking is the the shape. Items wouldn't fit and we would end up just leaving the presents on the floor in bags anyway. Several years ago I decided as part of my Christmas gift to the family I painted each a Christmas tote to replace the stockings and my husband and I created "North Poles" to hang the totes from as they didn't fit on the mantle. It's one of my favorite Christmas traditions.

I haven't posted in a while but I wanted to share a piece I just finished for a client. She asked me to restore a sign that was very special to her father. This sign is from the 60's and both he and his mother worked at the dairy. He has held onto it for many years just waiting for inspiration. Well, my client "borrowed" it and had me breathe new life into it. I hope he enjoys it for many years to come.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Chances are you or someone you know has been affected by this disease. For me it was my grandmother and several friends. Every day I pray for a cure.

This chair literally arrived at my house in a trash bag but you know I love a good puzzle. This Eastlake style one arm ladies chair dates back to the mid to late 1800's. Please note how low it is to the ground. This was done so women could sit in the chair with all their petticoats and take off their shoes without having to bend over in an unladylike manner. My how things have changed in 150 years.
