🍽️ It holds more than plates, it holds everyday life.

A dining table can become the center of a home.

It’s where breakfast starts in the morning.
Where homework gets finished.
Where bills are organized and important decisions are made.
Where stories are shared, problems are talked through, and families reconnect at the end of the day.

For a family beginning again, a table isn’t simply another piece of furniture. It provides a dependable place for routines, responsibilities, and meaningful time together.

In 2023, Houston Furniture Bank distributed more than 11,900 essential furniture pieces to over 1,276 families. Each table, chair, bed, and dresser helped make an empty space more comfortable and functional.

Furniture Donation: Myth vs. Fact

🛋️ Stop guessing before you donate. Here’s what Houston furniture donors should know.

A few common myths can keep useful furniture from reaching families who need it. Let’s clear them up:

❌ MYTH: Furniture pickup happens immediately.
âś… FACT: Standard pickups are typically scheduled one to two weeks in advance. Priority pickup may be available sooner, depending on the calendar.

❌ MYTH: Every pickup is free.
âś… FACT: Houston Furniture Bank requests a $65 charitable donation per visit for standard furniture pickup. Priority pickup fees vary and are provided before scheduling. BUT this October, enjoy FREE standard furniture pickup with promo code HFB2026.

❌ MYTH: Dropping off furniture costs money.
âś… FACT: Furniture drop-offs are free at the South, North, and Champions Resale Outlets. Mattress and foundation drop-offs have a $25-per-piece fee.

❌ MYTH: Furniture can be donated in any condition.
âś… FACT: Standard donations should be gently used, functional, pest-free, and ready for a family without repairs. Priority pickup may accept items in any condition, subject to service terms.

❌ MYTH: Every household item can be accepted.
âś… FACT: Items with tears, stains, peeling, missing parts, fire or water damage, pests, or pet fur may not qualify for standard donation. Large appliances, electronics, clothing, and certain oversized furniture are also excluded.

The right information makes donating easier and helps the team put more suitable furniture to work in Houston homes. ❤️

The Hands Behind Every Fresh Start

🙌 Furniture doesn’t move itself and fresh starts don’t happen alone.

Behind every bed delivered, table organized, and sofa placed in a welcoming home is a team of people making it possible.

They lift donated furniture from Houston homes.

They inspect, sort, and prepare each suitable piece.

They organize the Distribution Center and Resale Outlets.

They load the trucks, navigate the city, and deliver comfort to families beginning again.

Their work is physical, detailed, and deeply human.

In 2023, Houston Furniture Bank distributed more than 11,900 essential furniture pieces to over 1,276 families. Every number represents hours of teamwork and every furnished room carries the fingerprints of people who cared enough to help.
Today, we celebrate the hands behind the mission of Making Empty Houses Homes. ❤️

This Sofa Has Another Story to Tell

🛋️ Before you discard that sofa, imagine where it could go next.

Its first chapter may end in your living room but its story doesn’t have to.

A gently used sofa can travel from a donor’s home to a Houston Furniture Bank truck, through careful intake and staging, and eventually into a home where comfortable seating once felt out of reach.

That next chapter could mean family conversations, movie nights, homework sessions, and a welcoming place to rest.

In 2023 alone, Houston Furniture Bank distributed more than 11,900 essential furniture pieces while supporting over 1,276 families. Every suitable donation becomes part of that larger story.

Ready to give your furniture another useful chapter? Check the donation guidelines and schedule a pickup: https://bit.ly/Dontate-HFB We’ll pick it up for FREE with code HFB2026.

You can also support the mission by shopping at a Furniture Bank Resale Outlet, where every purchase helps fund the work of Making Empty Houses Homes.

One Mattress. Two Responsible Possibilities.

🛏️ Your old mattress may still have an important job to do.

When a mattress arrives at Houston Furniture Bank, it can follow one of two responsible paths:

❤️ If it is in great condition, it may be professionally sanitized, cleaned, and provided to a Houston family who needs a comfortable place to sleep.

♻️ If it cannot be safely reused, it may be dismantled so recyclable components can be recovered instead of sending the entire mattress to a landfill.

Either way, one mattress can contribute to a more comfortable home or a cleaner Houston. In fact, up to 80% of a mattress’s components can be recycled.

Have a mattress you no longer need? Learn about donation requirements, drop-off options, and pickup services: https://bit.ly/Mattresses-HFB This month only: Receive FREE standard furniture pickup when you use code HFB2026

A bed changes more than bedtime, it can change how a child begins the next day.

A proper place to sleep can bring comfort at night, create a dependable routine and give a child a space that feels like their own.

It means waking up somewhere safe.
Getting dressed beside a made bed.
Packing a backpack after a more settled night.
Beginning the morning with greater comfort and confidence.

In 2025, Houston Furniture Bank provided more than 380 children’s mattresses. Behind that number are hundreds of children given a stronger place to rest and begin again.

But more Houston children are still waiting for a bed of their own.

You can help by donating, supporting our programs or shopping at a Furniture Bank Resale Outlet; where every purchase helps fund our mission of Making Empty Houses Homes.

An empty living room isn’t empty of possibility.

It’s waiting for a sofa where a family can talk at the end of the day.
A table where a child can finish homework.
A chair where someone can pause and rest.
A lamp that makes the room feel warm, safe and lived in.

These may seem like ordinary pieces of furniture, but together, they create space for the everyday moments that make a house feel like home.

In 2025, Houston Furniture Bank distributed 13,741 essential furniture pieces to 1,497 families. Every sofa, table, chair and lamp helped turn unused space into a place for connection, learning, meals and rest.

4. Prepare access.
Clear a safe path to the furniture and make sure our team can reach the item when they arrive.

5. Let us handle what comes next.
Our team collects, sorts and prepares useful furniture for its next chapter, helping transform empty spaces into comfortable homes.
