Experimenting with some glue-ups. These are all hardwoods from around the globe with a larger piece of canary wood. Charcuterie boards, table blanks, who knows what they'll wind up as.

My daughter loves fresh flowers on the table but doesn't like when they get in the way. She came to me with this idea and I made it for her from pine trees will milled from our own land. I love the way it turned out, especially with the moss. Flowers stay fresh for a long time in this centerpiece. I'll be listing some soon for sale this weekend, just in time for Mother's Day.

There's a lot of different ways to add detail to small pieces. You can add edges, round overs, layers, and levels. Each keepsake shelf is unique and holds a lot of memories.

Working on getting my jointer dialed in. I got it from a commercial shop that was upgrading but it's perfect for what I need. Taking a manzanita burl down to smooth and see what I can do with it. You can get lots of great tools on Craigslist or other internet sites, there's nothing wrong with getting yourself what you need to do the job right.

Being a woodworker means people bring you a lot of old wood; sometimes it's junk but this time it was being special. My buddy's "old fence boards" turned out to be 20 year old cedar planks which I planed down to make this keepsake shelf. My granddaughters love them, and there's always something new to see sitting up there. I expect they'll be around for a long time.
