English settlers introduced the Windsor chair to America, with the earliest known chairs being imported by Patrick Gordon who became Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania in 1726. There is speculation that the first American Windsor chair, based on the traditional British design, was made in Philadelphia in 1730.

2:20 Cabinetry and Furniture. The 2:20 in the name stands for Galatians 2:20. Which reads "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I that live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
