There’s a moment every new homeowner waits for—the one where everything finally comes together. The long process of building or moving is behind you. One of the most rewarding parts of crafting custom furniture is being invited into that moment.

We had the privilege of delivering a handcrafted 8’ x 44” Tuscan trestle table paired with matching Braslow chairs to a newly completed luxury condo in Blowing Rock. Like many homes, the dining set was one of the final pieces to arrive—but it was the piece that truly transformed the room. Suddenly, it wasn’t just a beautiful space—it was a place ready for gatherings, celebrations, and everyday memories.

That’s what makes this stage so meaningful. After months (sometimes years) of planning, decisions, and anticipation, your home is no longer just a project—it’s a reflection of everything you’ve built. For us, witnessing that transformation never gets old. Seeing a handcrafted piece settle into its forever home—and the smiles that come with it—is just as fulfilling as building it in the first place.

If you are building a home or just moving into one, we would love to be part of the project. Send a message or give us a call to start the final stages of your project.

Here is another great example of how locally sourced lumber can be repurposed into a one-of-a-kind dining table. A customer from Winston-Salem had a maple tree milled into two live-edge slabs and wanted to give the wood a second life in his home. After searching online, he found us and brought the slabs to our shop to see what was possible.

The boards were book-matched, allowing the natural grain patterns to mirror one another and create a balanced look. Together, the slabs were a perfect fit for the 36” x 96” dining table the customer requested. To complement the organic edges of the maple top, we designed a simple trestle base with straight lines and minimal detailing, letting the wood remain the focal point of the piece.

A light stain was applied to even out the natural color variations in the maple and to add warmth. The end result is a table that reflects both the history of the tree and the craftsmanship involved in turning raw lumber into functional furniture.

Projects like this are especially rewarding for us. If you have lumber you’d like transformed into custom furniture, send us a message or give us a call. We’d be glad to help bring it to life.

Some homes already have a story. Our job is to honor it.

We’ve been building furniture for a longtime client in Asheville for years. Their home, once a bed-and-breakfast in the historic Montford neighborhood, is full of character and history. When they decided to make it their primary residence, the first project was a master bathroom remodel—and we were their first call.
The result was a seven-foot, his-and-hers vanity built from pine with a light stain, designed to feel more like a classic sideboard than a modern cabinet. Custom drawer cutouts accommodate undermount sinks and plumbing without sacrificing symmetry, while solid brass teardrop pulls pair beautifully with the soapstone countertop.

This is what we love most—creating custom pieces that feel like they’ve always belonged, helping a house continue its story as a home.

A Custom-Made Trestle Table Rooted in History

This reclaimed hemlock trestle table was crafted for a repeat customer building a house in Balsam Mountain Preserve—a private mountain club within a 3,200-acre wildlife preserve in Sylva, NC.

To create this table, we sourced several large 12” x 3” Hemlock beams from the WNC mountains. This wasn’t just lumber; these timbers carry a century of history. The extra-tight grain visible across the surface is the signature of 100+ year-old growth, telling a silent story of perseverance through time.

We were asked to reproduce a traditional trestle table design based on a photo. We carefully crafted the trestle base with traditional joinery, which is as sturdy as the old-growth wood itself.

We applied a custom stain to achieve a weathered gray look. This finish perfectly complements the rugged, yet refined, aesthetic of a Balsam Mountain Preserve home. To protect the wood and give it a timeless feel, we sealed the piece with a durable, low-sheen top coat. This choice ensures the table appears as though it has been a treasured part of the home for decades, blending seamlessly with its rustic surroundings while being ready for everyday life.

If you have an inspiration for your mountain home or want to pick a table from the many choices we offer in our table gallery, let us know. We would love to take you through the process of having a custom-made table built to fit your needs and style.

In addition to custom built beds and one-of-a-kind designs, we are pleased to announce that we now offer a full line of bedroom furniture from another family owned business. This solid wood furniture comes from the same US-based company that we have gotten our gorgeous chairs from the past 20 years. These delightful bed designs are available in oak, cherry, and maple, and we can finish them in a variety of stains and distressing options.

Recently, we delivered four beds to a sweet little cottage that was built for a premier, rustic yet elegant, golf club close to home for us. Nestled in the foothills below Sparta, in Traphill, a new club is being developed named Contentment. This simply stunning 800 acre parcel of land is being transformed into a world class golf club. We look forward to seeing how Contentment grows and flourishes in our beloved area.

Please reach out to us via phone, e-mail or Messenger if you would like more information about the bedroom furniture we can offer you.
