Varroa Destructor. The Varroa mite, a parasite of the honey bee that feeds on adult and bee larva. This mite causes strain and the spread of disease in honey bee colonies. Treating to control mites helps keep mite population low. During this time of the year the bees being produced will over winter in the colony to keep them alive, so keeping the colony mite free is important.

Bees bearding while fanning their wings to promote air movement throughout the hive. This helps with multiple things, two being cooling the hive on hot days and drying out nectar for honey production.

The bees are packing in the Honey! Pictures on the left is uncapped nectar which is dehydrated and turned into Honey. After the bees reduce the moisture content to below 18% they place a wax cap over the cells to seal in the Honey until it is used by the bees or extracted and bottled to eat 🐝🐝🍯🍯
