Today's projects~

#1 ~ While waiting for paint to dry, I sanded the 🍍 design off this box, leaving a pressboard surface. Stenciled a crab 🦀 on the outside, a seashell on the inside and lined it with a coastal wallpaper. The polycrylic sealer deepened the color of the pressboard more than expected, but now it looks like the 🦀 is resting on a sandy beach.

#2 ~ I found this black bench with a brick red colored frame at a garage sale. The black paint was kind of glopped on and the combination wasn't my design aesthetic so I knew that would go. When I initially sanded the black, it took forever to make progress so I switched to stripper but that wasn't getting the job done either. Decided to use 80 grit sandpaper and that worked. I liked the look of some white showing with the raw wood on top so that stayed. Painted the frame in Fusion Midnight Blue and now I'm in the process of adding stripes. I know when I seal it with polycrylic, it will glisten.

May was another busy month of furniture sales both in my booth at Coastal Charm Marketplace and through Facebook Marketplace.

Today I sanded down the 4 legs of a custom order desk and while waiting for stripper to activate, I sanded a hinged box and tray. The box now has a crab stencil. I'll finish them tomorrow.

Not my favorite part of a makeover, but hey, the end result will be worth it!

JUNE'S TIP of the MONTH ~

So many of us have industrial pieces that we no longer like for our overall home design. Shelves and tables are popping up all over Marketplace.

Recently, I picked up an industrial shelf and bench/coffee table. Painting the metal frames wasn't happening - it could chip too easily - but when I took the sander to the wood, it lightened it enough to feel coastal so that's what I went with. Added some stripes and my favorite crabby 🦀 stencil in my favorite coastal colors to the shelf and brought it to the shop. Both pieces sold quickly.

Yesterday I sold a long bench, leaving space in my booth at Coastal Charm Marketplace so before I join my friend for lunch, I dropped off this absolutely adorable end table with special features. It's vintage with a pull out shelf and metal magazine rack inside. Ain't she purty?!

This item is a Powell "Heirloom Cherry" magazine cabinet table, commonly used as an end table or nightstand. It has been refinished in Fusion Victorian Lace with a pop of color in the center. Floral transfers were added. Inside has a magazine/book rack and storage. The pullout tray has been covered in a coordinating removable vinyl wallpaper. Adorable gold k***s.

This piece may not be huge, but it packs a punch both in design and functionality.

Benches are big sellers for me so when I spot one, I scoop it up! I sold 2 this week ~ this one sailed out of Coastal Charm Marketplace minutes ago.

I have another one in my workshop about the same size as the seafoam one, but it's taking a lot of time to get through all those layers of paint. Now I have a spot for it so I better get to work.

Today's thrifting finds at The Master's Touch of Sneads Ferry included one piece of furniture to refinish - this cute magazine style end table - along with a palm tree design romper and 2 packages of crystal k***s. I'm keeping this pretty seashell necklace.

After thrifting, I went to Coastal Charm Marketplace and dropped off the sexy black dress. It fit perfectly on the mannequin. I added a black embroidered handbag, a dolphin 🐬 pin, flip flop charm bracelet, a 6-pack beverage holder and a few other things I had accumulated.

While there, I sold my white crab 🦀 stenciled bench so I'll be bringing another piece of furniture in later today, probably a metal wine rack with a hand painted coastal design on top.
