I turned lemons into lemonade today. Headed out to Conn this morning in hopes of getting a good frog bite, but after three hours and just a handful of fish (one decent one) I headed back to RI. As soon as the rain started, the bite picked up and I got on an awesome Buzzbait bite, nearly tripling my catch and getting a chunky one.

I've been catching lots of fish but have been in a big fish slump. The good news is, I caught my first 🐸 fish of the season, in fact about 6 of them. Fish were so shallow they were in 6 inches of flooded grass, pretty fun even if they weren't big.

Thought we were gonna have a day to remember after catching 10 in the first 30 minutes, even doubling up. But just like that it shut down and we only managed 8 more for the rest of the morning.

I only fish in the afternoon a few times a year but thought I would check a spot to see what stage the fish were at. Caught this nice fish in 1 FOW and actually saw a male Bass making a bed. I'm sure the cold front coming will put the brakes on that but any week now it's going to be full blown spawn. Don't be afraid to look super shallow right now, the big girls move up early to feed before they spawn.

After catching a bass on my second cast (first fish), I thought it was going to a slam dunk, but the wind was just too much to deal with in the canoe. I packed up and moved to a smaller more protected pond. That turned out to be a good call because I tripled my catch and put a good one in the canoe.
