From an idea to something real. One of our favorite parts of custom woodworking is that no two projects are the same.

A lot of our builds start with nothing more than an idea from a client. From there, we figure out each detail, choose the right material, and turn that idea into something that belongs in that space. That's what custom is all about.

We have our books open and would love to build whatever you have in mind. If it's a project in your head, saved on Pinterest, or written down in your notes for the last year. This is your sign to finally get it built.

That's completely fine. You don't need professional drawings. You don't need every measurement. You don't need to know exactly what kind of wood you want.

TABLE TALK: What does a ceramic coating actually do?

A ceramic coating is a thin protective layer applied over the existing finish—not a replacement for the finish itself.

Notice how the water beads on the surface instead of immediately spreading out. That added water resistance gives you more time to clean up everyday spills while also making the surface easier to maintain.

Ceramic coating can add:

• Greater resistance to water and common spills
• Easier everyday cleaning
• Additional protection against staining and wear
• Very little change to the natural appearance of the wood

What it cannot do is make furniture indestructible. It won’t prevent dents, deep scratches, heat damage, or problems caused by leaving spills unattended.

Think of your furniture finish as the main defense. Ceramic coating is the reinforcement that makes real life a little more forgiving.

Our first table vs. one of our latest.

The biggest difference isn’t just better tools or a nicer shop—it’s everything we’ve learned between these two builds.

We’ve learned how different wood species move, why proper milling matters, how joinery affects strength, and how small decisions during a build determine whether a table simply looks good today or stays solid for years.

That first table helped start Touch of Speis Customs. We’re still proud of it—but every project since has pushed us to improve our materials, process, design, and attention to detail.

Growth doesn’t mean being embarrassed by where you started. It means respecting the work that got you here while refusing to stop getting better.

Two brothers, a lot of sawdust, and plenty still left to learn.

We have a limited number of spots opened up for this next run of builds. Custom dining tables. Built-ins. Bars. Desks. Countertops. If you have an idea, we want to hear it.

You don't need to have every detail planned out before messaging us. Sometimes a picture, an idea, or a "What if we did this?" - That's enough to start.

Alright—enough birthday talk. It’s time to get back to building.

Thank you to everyone who took a moment to wish me a happy birthday, and a special thank-you to Tanner for the new kitchen knife. He knows me well—it’ll definitely get plenty of use.

Now, let’s put something on the build calendar.

Happy Birthday Logan,

I've spent the last few months putting together a little something for him. If you know us, you know we've spent the last 5 years building just about everything together - TOSC, Kincraft, Furniture, His House, and probably a few things we had no business attempting, but we did it anyways.

For my birthday Logan made and gifted me a custom outdoorsman knife. Naturally I had to return the favor, by making two custom kitchen blades.

This project was a lot more than just making a couple kitchen knives, so I had to make a video about the whole thing and the story behind it. Go check out the video if you have a few minutes.
