We learned something fascinating about this beautiful antique after recording our video!

This picturesque Victorian “cottage” chest dates to around 1870 and was handmade from pine. The two small lidded compartments beneath the swivel mirror aren’t merely decorative—they were designed as candle stands and jewel boxes.

The chest also features its original hand-grained and painted finish, carved wooden pulls and round pin-and-cove dovetails characteristic of the period. A few stains and marks acquired during its more than 150-year history only add to its authentic character.

Measuring 38 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 6 feet 7 inches tall, this is a remarkable piece of functional history. Stop by The Country Squire to appreciate its craftsmanship and charming details in person!
