Last year, interviewed a few Designers about designing spaces for kids, and I was lucky to be one of them. Designing for kids can be tricky because we all know how quickly they grow and change. One of my own vivid memories from childhood involves frequent, spontaneous rearranging of furniture and decor in my room to make it feel more like “me.”

In this boys room, we installed wood paneling matching other accent paneling throughout the house, and sprinkled in a little personalization with some temporary wallpaper that can be easily removed when the time comes. We added a built-in bench with adjustable shelves which can house books and or toys and creates the perfect cozy reading space.

Anyone up for a game of two truths and a lie? Let’s do it.

1. I’m turning 40 this year
2. I once worked the door at Madonna’s post-Oscar’s party
3. My family relocated to Japan for 4 years when I was 2 years old

I’m Tamar, the Designer behind Sienna & Sage Interior Design. A recent enneagram test revealed that I am a Peacemaker, Achiever, and Individualist… so, my brain is basically doing back flips most of the time, which keeps me on my toes. Although I do have two kids, the name Sienna & Sage is not named after them - I chose the name because of my love for Sienna (Italy), color, scent, and alliteration.

Humans are capable of the best and the worst. In recent days, we have seen and heard about some of the worst. I am in shock and a state of mourning partially because I’m Jewish, but more simply because I’m a human being.

I cannot hold my own children close without thinking of those who are now robbed of that experience.

We have also seen so much strength, resilience and goodness from many of those who are now living in fear day and night, praying that their families will live to see tomorrow, living with the very real knowledge that their prayers may not be answered. This drive to endure and persevere is inspiring, and super-human. This is the behavior that I will work to emulate.
