Stained Oak Slat Accent Wall for our new neighbors down the street. Nearly 30’ wide, this slatted accent wall adds a bit of warmth to the space and helps break up the biggest wall in their studio style showroom.

They put together a really great space and we’re happy to have been a part of it.

Pictures include final build, a before and even a few from production phase.

Always appreciate support from other local businesses!

Let the sweet treats and delicious pies of Sunday Brunch take you for a ride!

Standing at nearly 7 feet tall even without the custom table base we built... our take on a Ferris Wheel of the Chicago World Fair era is serving desserts every Sunday!

All from a lot of and a little , this project features over 200 custom made pieces, has fully functional rotation and 10 carriages built to hold pies and sweets!

We’re just going to go ahead and ✔️making a Ferris Wheel off our bucket list.

We get to be a part of some really cool projects sometimes, like when a restaurant wants a functioning Ferris Wheel that stands over 9 1/2 feet tall when on its custom built cart/table (not pictured) fabricated from scratch. It’s always satisfying watching a pile of steel tubes, pipes and rods turn into a working piece of art.

Check it out every Sunday for brunch at Chicago!

A rustic touch for this private dining and lounge area, roughly 16 feet wide and 4 1/2 feet tall, this wall decor brings a little warmth and style to an otherwise empty space.

But from reclaimed old growth rough sawn actual 2x4’s with a light “burn” finish and sealed with our favorite top coat.

Held together by a series of hidden pocket screws and the vertical metal pipes running through the piece top to bottom and secured to the wall with “floor” style mounts.

Designed to match the aesthetics found elsewhere in the restaurant, this piece is backlit by a dimmable string of soft white LEDs.

One last look at the “faux” beams we recently made for a client!

For those curious...
The 2”x10” reclaimed rough sawn lumber we used to construct these “beams” came from our lumber division, (on Instagram) where the client was able to hand pick pieces at our indoor lumberyard!

Our craft team then built the faux beam wrap, all 16+ feet of it, along with the vertical support beams and corner bracing in our shop mocking them up with temporary inserts for later transport. Obsessive attention was spent on carefully mitering the corners and thoughtfully aligning each piece of lumber for a cohesive, flowing and most importantly, natural looking build. Featuring rough sawn marks, rich old growth grain and 100+ years of weather worn patina, highlighted by a coat of High Performance finish in “flat” to retain that beautiful natural appearance without a glossy sheen.

Our install team then transported it to the clients’ home and began work by securing an insert track to the ceiling, making sure to hit worthy structural supports along the entire length. This is what the beam wrap is attached to, hidden away on the inside. The team then trimmed beam lengths right there on site, assuring a precision fit and install. The beams were then carefully brought in through a window and the team snugged the faux beam wrap to the support track starting on one side and snaking it along to the other. They then secured it in place with trim screws sunk into the face and hidden away from sight.

Next came the vertical beams, secured using the same track insert techniques as the ceiling beam, but this time secured into the walls on each side. The angled corner supports, also fabricated from 2x10’s milled down, mitered and joined on all 4 sides to form “faux by 4’s” are installed last and secured in place with trim screws sunk beneath the face of the boards, essentially leaving no visible marks for a clean natural finish.

The results certainly speak for themselves even if the pictures don’t quite do this install justice. It’s easy to believe no would assume this is a faux beam without deep inspection, and even then it very well trick most eyes.

We can’t wait to see pictures when the client finishes the rest of their remodel!

We certainly aren’t shy about sharing knowledge so if you ever have any questions in your own projects and adventures, let us know!

We’d love to help!

Would you believe this wasn’t a real beam?

We made this “faux” 8”x9” beam for a basement level install where adding real beams was just not an option.

Meticulously cut miter edges matched the entire length of the 16’+ beam and the two vertical supports.

Also features “faux x 4” angle supports to complete the aesthetic and give separation to two halves of a large space.

The lumber was sourced from our lumber yard by the client, we built it in our full service shop and our install team took care of the rest!
