Rescued Art

Rescued Art We save art from dusty places. Rework it to excellent condition. Write Rescued Art Stories about the Rescued Art is . . .

We find beautiful framed art in dusty places: thrift stores, estate sales, friends' attics. We rescue the art from being forgotten, put aside, or discarded.

•"All people deserve art." Our galleries are hung with masterful works, not expensive masterworks. You can decorate an entire room with six high quality pieces for less than $300.

•We use our expert eye to find special art, inlcuding orig

inal paintings. We look at hundreds of pieces before we find one worthy to rescue.

•We are experienced in furniture repair and restoration so we make sure your frames, backing, mat, and glass are in good condition. We bring elegance and quality to the secondary art market.

•We join with the community of pickers to recycle beautiful art and thus save it from the landfill. Also, our packing materials are as earth friendly as possible: 99% are recyclable.

•Please ask us to find a specific kind of art just for you on our rescue missions. We have a special appreciation of watercolor paintings, "unschooled art", and people prints.

•We also write Rescued Art Stories given birth by the circumstances of how works were rescued. To read a story click on the book icon like this one next to a specific work of art.

I remember, it was twenty-some years ago that I saw a watercolor hanging in the thrift store of the non-profit where I was a fundraiser. It was beat up and calling for reworking. This was day one of Rescued Art. Now is time to put that insight to rest. As of tomorrow, our FB site will be shut down. THANK YOU TO ALL OUR FOLLOWERS!

Have you ever noticed how two people together are more attractive than each alone? The same is true for art. Two paintings hung together are more beautiful than each alone. Two people together make a couple. Two paintings together make a DIPTYCH. Take a look at this gorgeous couple of pastels by Pat Dumas titled "Lake Silhouette." https://www.ebay.com/itm/175448195469

Long ago, I quit approaching Rescued Art as a business and began to see it as my avocation. Now, I am learning the art of renovation. The oil painting "Men on the Mediterranean" looked like the top picture when I rescued it from the backroom of a thrift in rural New New York.

After patching and cleaning the canvas as well as antique refinishing of the frame and accent molding, it now shines as shown in the second photo. Take a closer look at: https://www.rescuedart.net/product/original-oil-painting-by-l-henderson-men-by-the-mediterranean

I'm writing Rescued Art Stories once again. Having just spent a week on the Gulf of Mexico, this beach scene by George Xiong grew into a story naturally. " . . . creating rising and falling movement in the two sun bathing women, the water, the dachshund, the sky, and in me. All waving." Read the rest of the story https://www.ebay.com/itm/183544013281

Andrew Wyeth was never honored by elitist art critics, yet he could do wondrous things, especially with windows, as is the case here with this quiet "Shed Lantern," unlit unto itself but bright with the light from outside. Wyeth is commonly called a realist, yet he never accepted this appellation. He painted according to his father's advice: "Paint the light and air around the subject--paint the magic." Do you know why the great saxophonist Charlie Parker was called "Bird?" It is said a car he was riding in ran over a chicken, or yardbird as they are known in the South, and Charlie stopped to retrieve the dead chicken and had it cooked for supper! And how about John Birks Gillespie? Seems he was into wild antics on stage, so fans tagged him as "Dizzy."

Both are famous for creating the bebop style that features creative improvisation. Dizzy's trumpet once got bent by accident and he became famous for his bent bell for the rest of his career. Bird was blazing fast and gave jazz some revolutionary harmonies.

We were given this wonderful LeRoy Neiman piece by an aging jazz drummer who asked us to find it a new home. We reworked its dilapidated state into excellent shape and now hope someone will appreciate its historicity and sepia beauty.
