Painted Although I decorate homes, I've also been "decorating" furniture, accessories and woodwork/walls for over 15 years. I love what paint can do ~ Lee Debetaz

Back at it! I’ve had these corbels from Restoration Hardware for a few years. They’re solid. Needed to close this space under the horizontal window since I’m not a “hang your TV on the wall”kind of person. We found an unfinished pine shelf, PT cut it to desired size, gently sanded edges and I made a glaze with Annie Sloan dark wax, then a dry wash of Annie Sloan Country Grey to match our corbels perfectly!
Hoping when I accessorize the shelf, the weight of accessories will close up that gap that I see 😘

Lee Debetaz from Painted in Santa Rosa Beach, FL, knew this door was going to be something special when she saved it from her 1930's Oklahoma home 17 years ago for her future beach house. She moved to FL 18 months ago, and was finally able to use it! Lee designed a special opening for the master bedroom just for this barn door. It was quite tattered by then and was screaming for a paint transformation.

Lee used a blend of Chalk Paint® Decorative Paint by Annie Sloan in Oxford Navy, Graphite, Provence, Florence, Old Ochre, Old White, and some French Linen for blending. She explains, "It was my first attempt at ombré blending, and it took a couple of days until it made my heart sing. It represents our love of the ocean, and our love of that 1930's home where we had some of the best years of our marriage raising our daughters, and memories to last a lifetime! We saved the original hardware and the glass doorknobs, and my husband re-installed them for me. It is a great pop of color since most of the home has a neutral palette."

Lee loves the texture of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®, the colors, workability, brushes, and waxes, especially the white wax. While Lee is recovering from a broken ankle, she is planning her next project - painting her stair treads with Chalk Paint® in Graphite and sealing with Annie's Matte Lacquer!

Lee buys her Chalk Paint® from Coastal Cottage Emporium in Panama City, FL. You can learn more about this lovely shop by visiting here https://www.anniesloan.com/…/…/coastal-cottage-emporium-1898

Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan is sold exclusively through independent shops like Wanda's. You can find your nearest shop for inspiration and Chalk Paint® by visiting https://www.anniesloan.com/stockists/

Building our home, and there was miscommunication (too much to write) about the fireplace bricks, so I gave up and decided I couldn’t stand them for another minute. Painted select bricks with Annie Sloan Graphite, French Linen and Old Ochre, then did a German Schmear over the entire surface. Still deciding what type of mantle or wood surround. I’ll post after we move in and it’s finished. For now, it is way more pleasing to the eye than those awful orange bricks! Our teensie fireplace will surely add some warmth to our little cottage if we ever get out of the 90’s here in FL! 😉

It’s probably going to be another 7 months before I can get this out of storage and start painting again. There’s just no room here at the rental 😞, but we are building a sunroom/studio for me at the new house! I can’t wait to get back to painting again, and this piece will be for us and I think it’s going to be a pop of color 🎨
