In some houses, the transformation and reimagination of a space is more radical than in others. In this Beverly Hills residence, we had to redefine the rooms and the home is almost unrecognizable. This dining room used to be the maids room, so it was completely redefined in functionality and design.

In recent years, lighter colored sofas have become increasingly popular but as you can see from this photo, there is no reason a dark sofa can’t be a part of a clean modern home and even a central piece in a bright, light, room!

The key piece in this room is the gorgeous cabinetry around the TV. These are completely custom designed and built with oak- open pore with a ceruse finish.

Each choice is always made with purpose. The completely flat faces of these cabinets compliments

As I’ve mentioned, these days I'm usually not much of a fan of formal living rooms. These rooms can easily become wasted spaces, unless the space is created with purpose and able to draw people in. The conversational seating here, gorgeous ocean view, and the fact that a guest must pass through the bar to get to this room (and may have a drink in hand!) helps the family to make the most of this beautiful room.

Details matter. In the third photo, you can see how the brown tones of the fireplace wall are like those of the window and door frames. The lighting around the central beam is sleek and elegant. The wall tiles are reflective and almost expand the room because all the lighting, both natural and artificial, is reflected a second time.
