A warm kitchen is where home begins.

This Saratoga home was designed to feel bright, clean, and comfortable for long-term family living.
Creating a sense of warmth and everyday comfort was one of the most important parts of this kitchen design.

The cabinetry features Alice Cabinetry Slim Shaker Full Access Cabinets.
With slimmer profile lines, the Slim Shaker style feels lighter and cleaner, making it a perfect fit for this bright and natural open-concept space.

The pairing of Pearl White and Wheat Oak is a conversation between brightness and warmth.
The white finish keeps the space feeling open and airy, while the wood tone brings a soft sense of warmth into the home, creating an overall light and welcoming atmosphere.

The beauty of this kitchen also lives in the thoughtful details:

Quiet everyday moments: soft-close doors and drawers create a smoother, quieter experience;
A softer nighttime atmosphere: integrated cabinet lighting adds a warm glow in the evening;
Invisible protection: the materials are GREENGUARD Gold Certified with low VOC emissions, offering a healthier and more reassuring environment for the family.

A good kitchen is not just about cooking — it’s about making everyday life at home feel softer and more welcoming.

Making the Kitchen Feel Lighter, So Everyday Living Can Breathe

For this Saratoga kitchen project, the idea was to create a cleaner, lighter, and more relaxed living atmosphere.

Instead of using bold colors to create a strong visual impact, this kitchen keeps the palette soft and balanced with Pearl White and Wheat Oak. The cabinetry features Slim Shaker Full Access Cabinets, with a thinner frame profile that makes the overall look feel lighter and more refined. In an open-concept kitchen, these cleaner lines help the space feel more fresh and open.

In this project, we paid close attention to the relationship between the cabinetry and the surrounding space. The island, back wall cabinets, and extended countertop on the right side all blend naturally into the open layout, making the kitchen feel like a seamless part of the home’s daily flow.

The custom floating shelves on the right continue the warm Wheat Oak tone, adding depth to the open wall while still keeping the overall design light and airy.

The materials used in this project are GREENGUARD Gold Certified, meeting stricter standards for indoor air quality and offering extra peace of mind for long-term use at home.

What makes this Saratoga kitchen feel especially comfortable is that it does not try to overfill the space.
Lighter lines, softer colors, and a more open layout all help the kitchen feel calm and relaxed.

When a kitchen is designed to feel lighter, everyday living naturally feels more breathable.

Open-Concept Kitchen: Soft at First Glance, Full of Texture Up Close

In this video, we’re taking a closer look at the main kitchen from our Cupertino project.

The main kitchen features Alice Cabinetry’s SMO Ever Oak Classic Shaker cabinet doors. The natural wood grain feels warm and soft, while the clean Shaker frame keeps the look simple and refined. It preserves the classic American cabinet style while fitting seamlessly into a modern home — a fresh interpretation of warm wood tones.

The island cabinetry was customized by Alice Cabinetry in Dark Walnut, creating a strong visual anchor against the surrounding lighter wood tones. The gold handles add a refined touch and help connect the wood and dark cabinet finishes beautifully.

This kitchen also includes practical everyday storage features, such as a trash pull-out cabinet and spice pull-out organizer, helping keep the countertop cleaner and more organized.

The Ever Oak · Classic Shaker Style Framed Cabinets are GREENGUARD Gold Certified, with low formaldehyde and low chemical emissions, creating a safer cooking environment for the family.

The drawers are built with Dovetail joinery for a stronger structure. Paired with a smooth and quiet glide system, the drawers feel stable and reliable even with frequent daily use.

Ever Oak brings warmth.
The dark island adds depth.
The functional cabinets support everyday living.

Together, they give this open-concept kitchen a comfortable and lived-in feel.

From cabinet materials and door style to drawer construction and hardware details, every part reflects Alice Cabinetry’s commitment to quality.

Door style defines the look. Color sets the mood.|Two kitchens, two different personalities

We recently completed a very interesting dual-kitchen project in Cupertino. The overall design does not rely on heavy decoration, but through cabinet door style, color, texture, and hardware details, each kitchen was given its own personality.

The main kitchen features Ever Oak, a warm and natural wood tone. Paired with a white stone-look countertop and a spacious island, the whole space feels bright, open, and perfect for an open-concept layout.

The island cabinets were part of our special custom cabinet project, finished in the currently popular Dark Walnut color. The deeper island tone adds a calm and grounded feeling to the kitchen while creating a natural contrast with the surrounding wood cabinets.

The second kitchen uses a two-tone cabinet design: French Grey for the upper cabinets and Marine Blue for the lower cabinets, connected by a marble-look backsplash.

The light grey keeps the space clean and bright, while the deep blue gives the lower area a more stable visual weight. The washer, refrigerator, and cooking area are all arranged on the same side, helping the smaller kitchen stay organized and easy to use.

The Ever Oak, French Grey, and Marine Blue cabinets used in this project are all from our Classic Shaker Style Framed Cabinets collection. They are also GREENGUARD Gold Certified, with low formaldehyde and low chemical emissions, supporting a higher standard of indoor air quality and creating a safer cooking environment for the family.

Looking at the two kitchens together, one feels warm and natural, while the other feels fresh and clean.

That is one of the most interesting parts of cabinet design:

The door style sets the foundation of the design.
The color defines the atmosphere of the space.

Classic Shaker vs. Slim Shaker: How to Choose

The main difference between Classic Shaker and Slim Shaker is the frame width.
Slim Shaker has a thinner frame, so it feels lighter and cleaner.Classic Shaker has a wider frame, which makes the lines more noticeable and the cabinet look more defined.
There isn’t a better option , it really depends on what works for your space.

Cabinetry is about more than just appearance.

In residential spaces, material quality, drawer construction, and environmental standards all make a difference.

If you’re considering gray cabinetry, you don’t need to worry about it feeling “cold.”
What really defines the mood of a space is never the color alone, but how it’s paired with materials, lighting, and the overall setting.
French Grey is one of those neutral tones that stays timeless and steady.
A lot of people worry that gray will make a space feel cold.
But in most cases, it’s not the gray itself.
What makes a space feel cold is usually overly harsh contrast, mismatched materials, or inconsistent lighting.
With this project, the cabinetry stayed the same. The French Grey doors stayed the same. What changed was the environment around them.
In the shared bathroom, white stone with soft gray veining reflects more light, making the space feel brighter and more open.
In the primary bathroom, a darker gray marble backdrop absorbs more light, which naturally gives the room a calmer and more grounded feel.
The cabinetry is the same.
The color is still French Grey.
What creates the visual difference is the material palette and the lighting, not the cabinet color itself.
That’s the strength of a neutral gray tone.
It’s balanced, stable, and highly adaptable.
One cabinet color can work across different spaces, instead of being limited by them.
All drawers are built with dovetail joinery for a tighter and more durable construction.
Without visible nails, the drawer box looks cleaner and more refined, while still staying strong over time, even in humid bathroom environments.
The drawers are also equipped with a high-quality glide system for smooth operation, reduced vibration, and a quieter, more comfortable feel in daily use.
This cabinetry is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified,
making it a reliable option for families who place a higher value on indoor air quality.

Why do the kitchens that age the best almost always choose grey?
A lot of kitchens look stunning on day one.
But a few years in? They start to feel dated. Busy. Heavy.
This one was designed differently.
Instead of chasing trends, we leaned into a shade that gets better with time —
French Grey · Classic Shaker · Framed Cabinets
Clean lines. Defined framing.
Nothing loud. Nothing trying too hard.
Grey works because it’s a true neutral foundation.
It carries almost any material beautifully, doesn’t compete with finishes, and won’t show wear as easily as white — or feel heavy like darker tones.
That’s why grey remains one of the most timeless cabinet choices.
Here, the grey cabinetry pairs with a white marble backsplash for a soft transition — not high contrast, just quiet balance.
And function wasn’t an afterthought:
– Dovetail drawer construction for long-term durability
– Lazy Susan in the corner to eliminate dead space
– Roll-out trays in prep zones for easier access
– Hidden pull-out trash system to keep sightlines clean
The refrigerator wall runs full height to the ceiling — maximizing storage while keeping the elevation visually seamless.
This was part of a full-home remodel.
Grey serves as the base throughout the house, but each space feels distinct through layered materials and textures. The kitchen is just the beginning.
These cabinets are GREENGUARD Gold certified, meeting stricter indoor air quality standards — ideal for families who prioritize a healthier home environment.
If you’re considering a grey kitchen,
French Grey is one of those shades that simply doesn’t expire.
