The Two Toned Affair :
This Drexel tallboy was a beauty to begin with, but those architectural lines and recessed cane pulls were begging for more definition. By choosing a deep, chocolatey charcoal for the frame and keeping the drawer faces in their original warm wood, the “picture frame” molding finally pops.
It’s the perfect balance of Mediterranean soul and Mid-Century Modern structure. This “Two-Toned Affair” is officially reimagined and ready for its next chapter.

The Majestic Buffet: A ‘Thomasville’ Tale

This piece, the Majestic Buffet, is now part of the FurniTales collection, but its story is one of those that is funny now and was very, very serious back then.

I had seen the incredibly talented .tn refinish a very similar sideboard and was immediately obsessed. Literally the very next day, I saw this exact piece on the market for only fifty dollars—and it was a Thomasville. I thought it was fate.
Of course, there was a minor problem. It was fifty miles away and located one floor above in a Victorian house in SF. We were so excited that we completely underestimated the size and weight of this giant. The flight of stairs was extremely narrow, meaning my husband and the seller had to navigate it completely vertically to get it to the bottom.

If it were not for these two amazing and kind humans, this special piece would not be here today to tell its FurniTale. It really does take a village.

The Veridian Sentry: the last piece of The American of Martinsville set.
It was actually these nightstands that I fell for first when I saw the original listing on Facebook. I messaged the seller immediately, without even pausing to think about the logistics of getting them home. The way the straight lines are balanced by those subtle curves was something I simply had to get them home.

The deep black-green finish makes them feel even more elegant and unique. It is definitely a pair that will add charm and character to a home.

The Veridian Tallboy: American of Martinsville

If you saw our long dresser from last week, you will recognize the iconic architectural lines of this American of Martinsville set. However, for the tall dresser and nightstands, we decided to take a slightly different path with the palette.

Rather than the true black of the first piece, we have finished these in a deep, moody black-green. It is a color that feels grounded and classic, revealing its forest-inspired undertones only when the light hits it just right. It adds a layer of organic warmth to the mid-century silhouette without losing that bold, modern edge.

The Pewter Atelier: the last piece in The Pewter Anthology series.
This beautiful, classic pair of nightstands were the last piece of puzzle that tied in the color drenched tall dresser and the classic dark brown dressing table in my client’s space.
Her gorgeous room with those tall bay window and Victorian details, made the perfect stage for the anthology series to live on and build their next stories.

The Pewter Manor:

Chapter II of the Pewter Anthology Series is here. This tall dresser was the “anchor” of the collection—a piece with incredible bones that just needed a new story to tell.
As an architect, I’m always looking for the structural potential in a piece. The curved apron and tiered drawers of this manor-style dresser were originally suffocated by an aged, dated finish. By layering this deep, velvety pewter green and polishing the original ornate gold hardware, we’ve restored its intended elegance.
This is Modern French Country at its finest: grounded, organic, and timeless.

The Wood & Pewtery Muse

This piece in the Pewter Series was a happy accident.

It was custom ordered and originally planned to be fully stained. But once I brought it home, I realized something unexpected. It was not solid wood. It was particle board with veneer.

For a second, I thought of scrapping the project and source new.

Then I looked closer. The grain pattern was too beautiful to ignore.

So I asked my client if she would trust me with a small surprise. She said yes.

And that changed everything.

The soft pewter base paired with the rich wood tones ended up tying her entire room together. Especially since she chose the next two pieces in this series to complete the space.

Sometimes the best design decisions are the ones you do not plan.

Apart from sealing it with multiple coats of topcoat for extra protection, I've also added beautiful waterproof contact paper to the interiors of the drawers. The inside wood and runners have been nourished with wood wax.
