Frustrated that our PP checkout process is broken on the web site, and Playatech has zero IT support so it will have to stay that way until someone with Wordpress, server, and email chops steps up to volunteer. And my son graduates UCLA tomorrow so I can't even look for help until Monday.

If you need to order something, please make an equivalent donation at BurningMan.org, and send the confirmation to [email protected] with the item(s) you want so I can send them manually. Our PP button has always sent the $ to Burning Man Arts anyway...

The Playatech web site has been AFU'd for some time - sorry!

Unfortunately, no one in the giant community of Playatech users has stepped up to properly maintain the site for years despite several efforts on my part to find someone with the right chops. Tempted to shut the site down as a result, but will try again after the burn.

For now, if you need plans, PayPal [email protected] and send me a PM with what plans you need, and I will send them manually. After August 14, I will not be able to do that.

After 20 years it can sometimes be hard for me to remember that Playatech is my gift, not my obligation. Hope you all will too and give me a break cause I don't code nor do WP. Until someone shows up who does, I love you but f**k yer burn! 🤣

Without Black Rock City this year, no one needed to build and burn Playatech furniture, so we did the COVID pivot to online offerings to stay in bigness. But furniture classes on Zoom would have been boring as hell!

The alternative became "Burn Night: Live From Home", and this is a big "thank you!" to everyone who pARTicipated! You made my Burn! And I hope it made yours 🔥😷

Since you can’t build stuff for the playa this weekend or even go out to eat, build this instead!

In another universe (WWII), victory gardens enabled everyone to eat when they couldn’t go out. In yet another universe, they now supply half the produce in Havana. They probably work in recessions too.

So, today I designed the Playatech Victory Garden - a simple 4’x8’ raised garden bed 9” high, with 4’ tall supports to hold shade cloth or ropes for climbing plants.

It is super easy to make your own Victory Garden by cutting one sheet of plywood into 10 slotted parts with no MOOP. Then paint it, fill it with soil and seedlings, add water, climbing strings, or shade cloth as needed, and achieve the ultimate in self-reliance.

Build one today! Just keep it organic, ok?

Introducing: The Social Transmission Depot!

Yesterday, I designed an easily scalable social distancing counter for popup food banks and other providers of food or services. It provides a 3'x6' counter 3' high, keeps the client and the provider of any item or service 3' apart, and contains towers on each end for a sign that can also hold a sheet of clear pallet wrap stapled between them for an ad-hoc window to block respiratory droplets.

The design is a cross between an oversized Black Rock Bar and an item called the Whatever Booth that never had plans. It takes just 3 sheets of 3/4” plywood to build with no fasteners. Like anything I've ever designed, it will probably work but no guarantees.
