For those who’ve known me over the years (pre-military/pre-migration), they’d likely describe me as a shy, quiet, and reserved individual—someone jovial yet content to work behind the scenes. It’s never been in my nature to seek the spotlight, even when duty called me to speak on platforms that demanded a more extroverted presence.

But life has a way of shaping us. Over time, my experiences and the impact I’ve had on others have consistently placed me in positions to reach out, share, care, and foster connections. These roles often focus on serving others, building networks that benefit the collective rather than myself.

Yesterday, I had the honor of stepping into one of those roles at the BAMC, Soldier Recovery Unit’s annual Christmas party—a special event designed to bring service members and their families together as they navigate the challenges of embracing their "NEW NORMAL." This year’s celebration was especially meaningful as Major Ken LeBlanc chose it as the setting for his retirement ceremony.

He asked me to speak on his behalf, and to say I was humbled would be an understatement. Major LeBlanc—a 20-year veteran whose career accomplishments far exceed my own—took time to reflect on his journey and the role my team and I played during his recovery at the SRU. Hearing his gratitude and knowing we had a hand in helping him transition with optimism and purpose as he embraced life as a civilian was a profound moment for me.
It reminded me of a truth I hold dear: no matter what trials we face or challenges we overcome, those experiences serve to refine us. They prepare us to stand tall in the darkest of times, to persevere, and ultimately to emerge stronger and more resilient.

To Major Ken LeBlanc, I wish you and your family nothing but the very best as you step into this next chapter. You’ve earned every bit of success and happiness that comes your way. And as I’ve always told every service member under my care: my door remains open. If you ever need anything, I’m here.

Thank you for the privilege of standing by your side during your journey. It’s been an absolute honor.

Best wishes, Sir. It was truly a pleasure.

Every healing journey begins with a single step—THE DECISION TO FACE YOUR PAIN AND FIGHT FOR YOUR PEACE!
I've been walking that road, confronting my past, and navigating through the ebbs and flows of healing. It's not an easy path; it's filled with trials, moments of doubt, and sometimes feeling misunderstood or isolated.
But what I've learned is this: EVEN IN THE DARKEST MOMENTS, HOPE REMAINS.
Healing is not linear, but it is possible. To anyone suffering in silence, know that you're not alone. Your voice matters, your pain is valid, and your journey is worth taking.
I'm sharing my chapter "From Guyana to Greatness," not for SYMPATHY, but to remind you that resilience exists within all of us. There is strength in vulnerability, and there is beauty in growth. Keep going—YOU ARE WORTHY OF HEALING, HAPPINESS, AND PEACE.

No riding or kayaking pics today—Mother Nature decided to keep it in the mid-40s with a generous side of rain. Lovely, right?
BUT... here’s the silver lining: last night was all about community vibes at our annual HOA Christmas party! 🎄
As part of giving back, we (the board of directors) teamed up with our management company, amazing donors like HEB and Randolph Brooks Credit Union, and a crew of fantastic volunteers to make it happen.
What’s on the menu for this celebration?
🎁 A toy drive and giveaway
🎄 Pics with Santa and Mrs. Claus
🎟️ A raffle
🍴 And of course, a delicious dinner!
The turnout was incredible, and the energy? It's absolutely heartwarming. It’s such a blessing to celebrate together, especially knowing we’re spreading a little extra joy to those who might need it most.
I wish you all a magical holiday season filled with love, laughter, and moments that truly matter!
