When we say we TRY to touch every aspect of the house, this is what we mean.
We were contracted to do this home two weeks ago, after 2 days and 18 man hours spent at the home - we were near our end and very much at the end of our original time quote.
This bathroom also had a full tub/shower and toilet, exterior window and floor to ceiling cabinets.
This bathroom WAS a joy to clean! Mold built up in the tub, and (you can see the pile of dog fluff and dander that came out from under that bed in the background) dog hair caked the cabinets, mirror, globes, walls, blinds, curtains. Everything needed to be wiped.
It’s easy to not realize how much hair, dirt and grime exists till you start removing it, and when you do start removing it / you must follow through. This particular follow through took me 2 hours, taking time away from other tasks in the home.
Just as the video shows, a bathroom clean will never compare to a living room clean. They are different in many ways, but mainly because you can remove every aspect of a bathroom and clean every inch, we do not do that in a living room, kitchen etc. It’s just not feasible. Are they both clean when we leave, absolutely yes!!!!
When we left this home after day one - we were raved on. Thanked and applauded and even tipped. After day two, we were ridiculed, questioned why the entire house didn’t look like day 1’s bathroom and told we didn’t complete the job.
These days are sad to me, because when we come to work, we come and move and groove ALL OVER your house! Touching things you haven’t touched in forever! We can tell, we know! It hurts my heart, because I want to be a help to families, but not taken advantage of either.
We are often the last invoice that gets paid, if it does (in this case above they chose not to pay for the entire time we were there), and I let it go because GOD has better fights for me than that!
Sometimes it’s being talked down to because we didn’t make the home picture perfect. Sometimes I have to remind myself to NOT inform the homeowner that they in-fact made the condition of the home, and we are helping them. Sometimes I have to scroll through my phone and remember how awesome 97% of our clients are and have been. Sometimes I want to quit, this particular job had me in tears at the end. Sometimes I let people get the best of me, let people offend me, rip me off and treat us like garbage, although we work just as hard at any other service industry.
And then OFTEN we get to go help the sweetest most appreciative pregnant lady, the mom whose baby is getting married, or starting school. The dad who works so much and wants to enjoy every minute home, the business that pours into our youth, the church that provides programs for kids to learn more about Jesus, the first home bought as a married couple, the home you raised your babies in and saw their first steps, your family home that still smells like Grandma.
THAT is why I show up, why I QUIETLY tell customers that complain and won’t pay, that we will just eat it, and I go on; not paid, and I wish them well and continue to pray for them same as I do my client that is expecting!
We are not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, and some will even refuse to pay for the tea they ordered….but that won’t stop me from continuing to do what I do.
From the bottoms of my feet to the top of my head - THANK YOU to all of our clients that continuously book us week after week. We appreciate all our clients and are thrilled to bring you a service we are proud of and stand behind!
