Life is hard on tables. Even though Lacquer is a great finish, it will eventually wear out, crack, and loose its original luster.

For the refinish we opted to go with a urethane finish as it holds up better for table top applications. I am really happy with how the color came out. This was by far the most difficulty I had getting the color to match. The original lacquer was toned to get the desired color. Even with several attempts, I was unable to produce the same result with a tone urethane.

After several tests, I came to the combination of a solvent wood dye, two tones of oils, and splotches of dark and light stains to get the desired look. Overall, the client and I are very happy with how it turned out.

You don't realize how many parts there are to some pieces of furniture. At least not until you take them apart, sand every side of every piece and then put it back together with new color and finish.

The great thing about well built furniture is that it can weather the storms and then will some TLC look good as new.

While I was working on them. I took the time to make a template set. There are a few tweaks that I want to make to the design to make it my own. During the downtime between major projects, I am planning on making a few sets of these and putting them up for sale. If you follow me, you will see when I post them online. However, If you don't want to wait for who knows how long, I am happy to take them on as a commission piece.

This was by far my largest project yet! 16x4 feet and over 2 inches thick! Total weight for the project was nearly 1,000 pounds! I want to say thank you to the company for letting me take on this project. Part of the contract was that I did not have their logo in the post. So if you know, you know.

came through and absolutely nailed the legs! We had some setbacks we had to tackle but we managed!

Realistically, this may be the first and last table of this scale I am going to take on. But who knows what the future holds? Hopefully more accent walls and maybe like 12 foot tables. 16 was definitely a larger challenge than I anticipated.

These countertops turned out so nice! We used a locally grown cherry. Originally, we thought about doing some butcher block with narrow pieces, but the boards came out so nice and clear we opted for wider boards.

I made a goof while cutting out the sink however, the repair turned out flawless. If you look close enough, you can see it.

Sometimes life is hard on the things we love. With a little bit of extra care, they can continue to love us back. Between time and a moving accident, this rocking chair had seen better days. With the clever use of some carefully placed dowels and clamps, it became as strong as the day it was build. I hope my client gets many more years of comfort from this chair.

Unfortunately, this piano was damaged while being moved from the basement. Thankfully the break was clean enough to simply rebuild the leg with the original pieces. While the glue would have held up well enough, we added a metal bracket to the underside of the leg for extra strength.

I am very happy my client is able to play his piano again.

I really loved working on this accent wall. We were able to source locally grown, harvested, and processed lumber for the project, and the variation between the pine, cherry, and hickory came together beautifully.

This is the kind of project I look forward to doing again for another client.

My favorite part is that it turned out so well the company decided to update their office sign to better match the quality of the wall itself.

This is an interesting one. The back of the chair was made from a bent lamination. Unfortunately, it had delaminated and popped out of the chair. Getting it to flex just enough to get back in but not so much that it was going to shatter into peices definitely has my heart rate up, especially as the laminations started to crackle and separate further. But its in there! I forced enough glue in the separations that Elmers Glue would be proud. And as per usual, I ran out of clamps..... I know it's ridiculous but 3 or four mour would have been nice. Its going to stay in the clamps for a few days then we will see how I did.

There was a fireplace mantel that needed some help. Though it did the job, there was much room for improvement. I think the white pine was the perfect wood for this project.

I need a bigger backdrop for my photo booth 😅. That is ok though. I am very happy with how this turned out. There were many things that I learned as I created this project. A few new tools would have made this so much easier however, I need to sell a few more cutting boards before I can afford them.

This was a piece I entered in a young professional woodworker competition. I am excited about how the results will turn out this year.

Some projects are more than just wood and glass—they’re stories.

This shadow box was built to preserve memories from a wedding day: dried florals, handwritten tags, a ceremony program, and a few tiny details that serve as a reminder of that wonderful day. It’s a wonderful thing that small keepsakes don’t need to be packed away in a closet—they can live on display, beautifully.

Made from cherry, with a glass front and a small drawer for hidden treasures, this one was a joy to build. Projects like this always feel a little extra meaningful.

If you’ve got memories you’d like to turn into something timeless, I’d love to help you do it.
