Murphy Beds were first patented in 1900 by William L. Murphy who lived in a boarding house that did not allow guests of the opposite sex to visit in a room with a bed. He wanted to entertain friends in his room, so Mr. Murphy found a way to “hide” the bed. His space-saving idea caught on and Murphy Beds became quite popular and remains popular today. Murphy beds are more than just beds. They offer space-saving ideas and allow multi-purpose use for different rooms in your home.
