Help Support Jaxon Fritz on His Journey to a Healthy Heart
What started as chest pain and a racing heart quickly became every family’s nightmare. Jaxon was rushed to the emergency room where his heart rate climbed to nearly 191 beats per minute. Doctors immediately knew something was seriously wrong and arranged for him to be airlifted to Blessing Hospital in Quincy for emergency care.
Over the next several days, Jaxon endured countless tests, including abnormal EKGs, abnormal blood work, elevated heart enzymes, and an abnormal echocardiogram. It was then that he and his family received the diagnosis they never expected.
At just 23 years old, Jaxon was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) Syndrome, a congenital heart condition caused by an extra electrical pathway in the heart that had gone undetected his entire life.
After meeting with his cardiologist, they learned his case was anything but routine. His extra electrical pathway appeared to be dangerously close to the heart’s main electrical conduction system, making surgery much more complex than normal.
On July 14, 2026, Jaxon underwent surgery with hopes of permanently correcting the problem. Unfortunately, once the procedure began, the surgical team discovered the extra pathway was only one millimeter away from his heart’s main electrical pathway. Because attempting to remove it could have permanently damaged his heart and left him dependent on a pacemaker for the rest of his life, the difficult decision was made to stop the procedure.
While heartbreaking, it was the safest decision.
Jaxon has now been referred to the Heart Rhythm Institute in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one of only three centers in the United States that specializes in cases as complex as his. His surgery is expected to take more than eight hours, with an entire team of specialized cardiac electrophysiologists working together to safely remove the pathway.
This means Jaxon and his family will need to travel more than 10 hours from home for his care. Between mounting medical bills, travel expenses, lodging, meals, and time away from work, the financial burden is becoming overwhelming.
Anyone who knows Jaxon knows he has a heart for serving others. As a Correctional Officer and Dispatcher with the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, he has dedicated himself to protecting and helping his community. Now, he needs us to rally behind him.
Jaxon is ready to put this chapter behind him and get back to the life he loves—working, spending time with family and friends, and simply living without the constant fear of his heart racing out of control.
