Chair Whimsy Chairs are my love language! I make them and teach others how to do it, too with my online course! One way to give back is to repurpose old and new chairs.

From empty shells to the most joyful pair of embroidered French armchairs.

These came to me as bare frames with zero personality. Now they’re covered in navy embroidered fabric full of horses, birds, and flowers in every color, and those white faux bois frames make it all pop.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how fun is this chair? 🖤🌸

If you know me, you know fun always wins over here. This Louis-style armchair makeover started with a bold floral fabric on the oval back. For a little spice, we added a black fur seat. Then black paint brought the drama. Together? It just works.

Going with this multi-stripe fabric on the seat was a big risk. What surprised me most is how well it plays with everything. All that color, and it still works with so many prints. You can go super bold and still have it look pulled together, especially when you pair it with a big, painterly floral like this one on the oval back.

Then I took one more risk with the welt cord. Black and white stripes give it a little MacKenzie-Childs feel without tipping into overwhelming. It frames the bright fabrics and keeps the whole chair crisp.

It's all in the fabric placement. I moved the biggest flower on purpose, so each chair became its own little painting.

The fabric is a design by my friend printed on Spoonflower. The frames are my favorite pale pink neutral.

Chair makeover sneak peek 👀 This vintage chair is headed to a charity auction in a couple of weeks!

I wasn’t planning on this paint color. But after a few lighter coats, it was obvious: this chair needed to go bolder. So here we are. 🎨
