Absolutely proud to be a part of and to be invited to be a part of their fundraising event Glitter.

This table is a home grown beauty. Every part of it was grown, built, and assembled in Roswell, Georgia. This amazing oak tree was growing next to the old Greenway grocery store, at the corner of Crossville and Woodstock Road. Unfortunately, it had to be taken down when they were building . However, the owner had the wood mill up and I was able to get my hands on a bit of it.

The table base was designed, and welded by a good friend of mine before he retired. I’ve had a handful of these bases and figured this was as good as time as any. Brad was an incredible metal worker and had an awesome little shop right here in Roswell where he would weld and powder coat.

The top was made completely by hand and even the wax and oil blend used for the finish was made by hand out of my shop.

This piece goes up for auction on March 21. Looking forward to seeing what it brings in for the school.

Calling all Tiki nerds, here’s a quick peek at the new line of tiki themed items I’m gonna have for sale. My friend over at the sent me the sketch and within about an hour I was able to produce this cool little swizzle stick. So many years ago, this neighborhood had a signed commissioned to be made. After several decades of service, the sign finally fell apart. It had been hand painted and the script was hand done. The neighbors wanted to maintain the look and feel of the original when they brought it to me. When we discussed, they said if I can just come close with a font that would be great. However, instead of finding a similar font, I took a picture, traced it in Adobe Illustrator, and laser cut some acrylic letters that are almost a 100% match. I was able to update the sign and give it a little more presence while perfectly preserving the original design. If you’re ever in Dunwoody driving down Roberts Road, keep your eyes up and you’ll see the Sellars Farm sign. Hopefully this one last them another three or four decades.

If you know me, you know that I’m a big sentimental sap. I get emotional about little things and about small moments and authentic interactions with people. I live for those moments where you connect with somebody unexpectedly. I love my job because it leads to those situations far more frequently than any other job I’ve had.

This piece is a perfect example. This little side table is constructed of a couple beautiful mahogany bed rails that belong to my sweet client. She’s 85 years young and these came from the bed that she inherited from her grandmother. Over 100 years old, it had lived its life as a bad and she had had this table idea in her mind for years.

When she reached out to me, we connected, I told her it would be my pleasure to come pick them up and help her out. About a month later, I was able to bring this table back by. We didn’t have a hard plan, she didn’t want it, stripped back and looking new, it was full of the old scars and marks from living along life.

Hopefully this table gets to live a new life and continues to carry the memories of the family that slept on it.

I used to prefer the process of building furniture over the process of design, but as I’ve gotten more reps, I’ve really fallen in love with designing with a client. On the phone with both Adam and Jackie we were having a conversation about their coffee table and specifically the curves. In my head, I had a very different idea, something far more typical in the way of woodworker would make curbs. However, Adam mentioned vertical staves like a barrel. Suddenly, a light clicked in my head and 15 minutes later I had a quick mock up. I love this piece, it’s not what I expected when we first started discussing, but the grain continuity of the top, the texture on the sides, and the unique shape really lends itself to being a fun piece.
