Roscommon Community Garden

Roscommon Community Garden The Crawford-Roscommon Conservation District has established a community garden in Roscommon where people can learn about gardening and landscaping.

A pollinator habitat garden, asparagus patch, and raised beds will teach people about renewable resources. In addition, trees and shrubs will be planted to teach people about species that grow in Northern Michigan. We are always seeking volunteers, so if you are interested, please contact Maureen Ruddy at 989 745-5999.

Community beds are still producing beets, purple-green beans, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers! We have a full 4 x 8 bed of potatoes waiting to mature as well! To our dear members: thank you for donating from your surplus, you are helping us meet our goal of giving more than last year. And anytime you are out of town or unable to harvest, give us a call or text, and we will be happy to harvest for you and donate!

We had a nice strawberry yield this year but the berries were a little small, so after some googling and studying, I decided to try thinning the bed and mulching it for the fall/winter. There is always something to learn here at the Garden, so if you’re new to gardening and would like to give it a try, we’d love to have you join us. We have beds for rent next season at a variety of sizes and prices - just send us a message if you’re interested.

We are excited to say that we will be delivering our fresh produce to St. Vincent Depaul in the Village of Roscommon! We have potatoes still growing, and some produce still ripening, so we hope to deliver on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
