This post is a combination of showing my most recent “big” project and also announcing some “big” news.

The photos are of two fireplaces I did for the same customer as well as 4 posts that I wrapped to give them a more modern look.

As for the “big” news? Many who are following this business page already know, but our family will be moving to Bogotá, Colombia this year. Our goal is to start a woodworking trade school to offer skills training for individuals seeking employment. At the same time we will be helping with the church planting efforts in that area.

Our family has a lot to do during this period of transition. For this reason, I’m not looking to quote any larger projects (such as built-ins, dining tables, etc). The time required to quote/complete these types of projects will not be available to me as we prepare for our move.

However, if you (or anyone you know) need any trim work done, feel free to contact me for a quote. I’m usually able to complete trim jobs fairly quick and I can fit them into my schedule more easily.

I had the opportunity to redo a mantle and add a bookshelf to this living space. I love doing this style of mantle. It’s a mitered solid lumber box, so it gives the illusion of being a solid beam. If you know of anyone interested in redoing their mantle, have them contact me, thanks!

Finally had the chance to make my first Christmas ornament, an item requested long ago by my wife :) This isn’t anything I have for sale, but it was too cool not to share it on my page. The globe is made up of some small burls my kids found in the back yard along with some epoxy (with blue resin) and the finials are walnut. Merry Christmas Honey! :D

This has to be one of my favorite projects ever. For those of you that know me, I’ve ALWAYS wanted to do a live edge table. However, this table had a special backstory. The customer’s father was a woodworker and he had saved these Walnut slabs in his shop. I hope I did this project justice as I’m sure he would have made an incredible table and bench himself if he’d had the chance. It was such an honor to do this project and I’m so happy with the way it turned out!

Here’s a kitchen cabinet replacement I finished up today. The 2nd photo is what was originally in the home. The customer wanted the microwave to set flush with the kitchen cabinet and they also wanted more usable space above the microwave.

I enjoyed the challenge of making a cabinet look identical to the rest of the kitchen set :)

I recently did a whole-house trim job. I pulled off the original and replaced the base trim as well as the door/window trim. Finally, I wrapped the 30’ beam in the main living space with a Walnut shroud. It really changed the look throughout the house.

I did all the trim work, but Chad Druckenmiller and his crew did a great job with the painting.

Here’s a large mudroom unit that I did recently. I love the solid oak bench on it. The dark stain contrasts so well with the white and makes it stand out! I also like the shelves for shoes underneath. I haven’t done that before, but it really maximizes the space by holding two pairs of shoes in each cubby.
