Not one, but TWO Vintage Heywood Wakefield pieces hit the floor today!

Skovby is now available at Abode!

Skovby is a Danish family-owned furniture company that’s been making furniture since 1933. They’ve spent decades figuring out how to make furniture work harder without making it look like it’s working hard.

We’ve been fans of Skovby furniture for years and have been proud to offer their vintage pieces when we can get our hands on them. So when we had the opportunity to bring the current Skovby collection into Abode, it didn’t feel like discovering something new, it was more like reuniting with an old friend!

Their dining tables expand in genuinely impressive ways. Storage pieces hide clever little surprises. Dining chairs that are beautiful and comfortable. Everything feels considered down to every last detail.

The iconic #33 dining table, for example, uses a patented turntable hidden beneath the tabletop to reveal extension leaves stored inside the table. With light pressure, the leaves unfold and expand the seating from six to nine seats!

"Uptown" Chest by Merton Gershun

The Uptown line by American of Martinsville is a mid-century modern furniture collection designed by Merton Gershun during the mid-20th century. This line was made on a smaller scale compared to his other lines, which makes these pieces are relatively rare to find.

This chest consists of 6 drawers. The top two are each accented with a brass pull. All drawers have dovetail finger joints. The base has an apron which has brass spindles and brass feet.

The Designer: Merton Gershun designed over 12 major lines for American of Martinsville, including Uptown, Legacy, and the best-selling Dania line.

Style: The Uptown collection features clean lines, classic mid-century wooden tones, and sophisticated simplicity characteristic of 1950s and 1960s American modernism.

Pieces: The line included bedroom and occasional furniture, such as dressers, nightstands, beds, and side tables.
