8.6' long Model 1903 Wright Flyer Replica Ohio Pumpkin Festival Parade- $574.99

This 1903 Wright Flyer replica was used in the 1993 and 1994 Barnesville Ohio Pumpkin Festival parade. Constructed of plywood with a steel frame, this folky replica has a fall color scheme with a green frame, orange wings and struts, and yellow foils and propellers.
The formerly belt-driven propellers were run by a small engine mounted on the lower wing. The engine has since been removed and is not included. This piece has 3 wheels with pneumatic tires; 2 below the wings, and a single swiveling wheel in the front of the frame connected to a functional steering wheel. Bailing wire and twine are strung throughout the frame to mimic control and tension wires.
Condition: This plane is in good cosmetic shape with some chipping and splintering towards the edges of the plywood wings. Due to the age of the piece, the wooden components are fragile, especially around the fasteners which can strip out if not handled with care.

History: This flyer was picked from a barn on a dairy farm in Barnesville, Ohio, featured on the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs". The mid 1800's Queen Anne style farm house, barn, and items from the structures are featured on Season 10, Episode 6, of the DIY Network show, "Salvage Dawgs".

Weight: 200 lbs.
Overall Measurements: 103.25(L) x 125(W) x 61.25(H)

Cast Stone Demeter Wall Plaque, 28" x 23" Wall Mounted Decor or Water Feature- $199.99

The Greek goddess of the harvest, Demeter presides over the earth and the fertility of its landscape. This beautiful cast stone wall plaque is 28" tall and features a mascaron of Demeter in bas-relief. The mouth has an opening that can be connected to create a spout for a water feature.
Composition and Quality: This Unique Stone piece is made of crushed quartz, washed sand, and Portland cement, creating a cast stone product that is strong & weather resistant. Each piece is hand crafted with the same attention to detail given to the smallest animal to the largest fountain. Unique Stone is proudly manufactured in the U.S.A.

Color: The plaque has a hand-applied finish using a specific aging technique to replicate a finish found on pieces that have been weathering in the elements for years. Please contact us regarding specific colors.

Measurements: 28"H x 23"W
Weight: 90 lbs.

Condition: New. As with all hand-cast stone pieces, the item could show minor surface irregularities. We believe this adds to the authentic, old-world character of each piece.

Image of the Week

Memorial Bridge replaced the Woodrum Bridge, which was constructed in the early 1890s. The Roanoke City Council named the new bridge the "Memorial Bridge" in honor of the Roanoke service men who died in World War I. The bridge opened in May 1926 and a dedication of Memorial Bridge, seen in this photograph, was held in August 1926. The bridge features five plaques - four placed on the ornamental pylons at each end of the bridge, and a smaller one containing the names of city officials and the contractor. The four larger plaques feature quotations selected by
the city council from notable historic figures -- Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Robert E. Lee, Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. One of the plaques has the inscription "They have crossed the river, now they rest in the shade of the trees" with the names of fifty-two soldiers from Roanoke who died in World War I.
