Heart Wood Tree Salvage

Heart Wood Tree Salvage We salvage trees. We sell Kiln-dried slabs & more! Got Wood? BYOL(og) & we can mill it for you! Got Slabs? We can dry them for you w/ our iDRY kiln! Got Warping?

Slab Slayers can tame your wood! Please schedule an appointment today. In March of 2015, we began a tree removal service, Brown Hound Tree Service, and with that came the realization that we don't want to just throw the beautiful trees we remove into a landfill--we want to put them to use! Thus grew Heart Wood Tree Salvage that now works in conjunction with Brown Hound Tree Service to salvage the

wood that come from job sites, creating one-of-a-kind outdoor benches, fireplace mantles, slabs, and more. We presently are selling firewood (because not all wood is salvageable but we still want it to be useful), bamboo poles, and slabs cut with an Alaskan sawmill. If you are a wood carver, we also have a variety of wood to chose from to fit your carving and creating needs. We hope to have enough inventory created in 2017 to open our doors to the public, but for now we are selling byproducts online.

We usually get to post about slabs here, but I am switching it up a bit in this post!
On the 28th of February I had the honor of representing Heart Wood Tree Salvage and being a Junior Division Scholarship Judge at the 35th Annual Blue Ridge Highlands Regional Science Fair!

As the chair of the junior division Mount Tabor Ruritan Club Award I was honored to help promote science and innovation in the New River Valley!
Natural resources are awesome and these valleys are full of them!

Some Lucas Mill action shots for a Japanese Elm slabbed in late January.
The slabs are all full of character and beautiful to behold.
We did sadly find 1.5 feet of 1/2" cast iron pipe near the pith, the cut to remove it created what I would call two perfect coffee tables.

It has been a blast cutting some local Box Elder. The trunk and limbs had quite a bit of flame!
We also got well acquainted with some metallic friends.
It is all stickered up and just waiting for its turn in the Kiln.

Learning never endsโ€ฆ I got a chance to talk to Marcos about his North Houston operation. He started 6 months ago and says that market appetite is very high. It was cool to see his selection of Pecan and Mexican Mesquite.
