The last 2 weekends were amazing. My son Bridger who is now 12, drew a youth open bull tag. That lets him shoot a cow or bull on any open bull unit. It also lets him hunt early before other rifle hunters. Being a open bull unit, odds are very very low. Luckily I've got some good friends. Jordan Davies, Kyle, Mike.. thanks for the help. And thanks for inviting us to your campfire. First weekend we were able to locate a number of bulls, but it was way to thick. We weren't able to get a glimpse of them even though they were within 75- 200 yds. Bridger was able to feel the lows of a hunt, and highs. Second weekend Kyle, B and I found a cow right before sunset. The next morning we took the side by side to the same area. As we pulled off the Pavement and went down this dirt road. The first hillside, we decided to wait there until it was light. We cow called, I heard a response. We hiked up the hill. Waited for more light and cow called again. Immediately heard more than one response. Including a terrible bugle back. we walked a little further. We now can see a cow elk at 600 yards feeding. Barely light enough to see it. We snuck in another 100 yards and I set up B on the tripod. I watched his breating. He seemed calm. Not sure how? Lol. I then see a bull. I tell B to find the lone quakie on the ridge and look at the base. He immediately finds the bull and said it's a bull dad. I range the bull at 498 yds. And rotate the turrets. I back up a few feet and say when you are calm and ready to shoot, slowly pull the trigger. As I put my binos up to my face, Boom! I watch the elk drop.. I can't believe it. Kyle yells you dropped him.. I quickly have B put another in the chamber and have him keep a eye on it.. the bull trys to get up.. I tell him to hit it again. Boom. Another great shot and th bull is down for good.. the amount of hugs and cheers was amazing..The smile on Bridgers face was priceless. Kyle and I both were so thankful and also in disbelief that it all happened so quick, And exactly how you dream it happening.. pack out was a short 700 yards. dreams come true.

To be honest I didn't think I'd ever see a Utah Shiras moose like this ever again. The herds here are struggling. So when I got a text from one of my good friends Jake, with a teaser pic showing a tape measure at 53", I couldn't believe it. And for it to happen to A good buddy who's moose hunted with me a bunch, made it that much better. Jake waited over 20 yrs for this tag. He decided to put on for a cwmu tag. Which can be risky as far as when you can hunt. And other factors like the property owner only allowing thr hinter plus one. This particular property owner is not so interested in giving hunters good dates to hunt. And is very strict. Add in outfitters that have rights to hunt there, and it's a mess real quick. Luckily Jakes good friend Jason guides for the outfitter in that cwmu. And he was able to get Jake in early. With scouting from adjacent land Jake did his best to scout, but he found no bulls pre season. Sometimes good things happen to good people. And Jakes first day of hunting they came across this bull right near the Rd. He was able to have his 2 boys there to be part of all of it. I would guess this bull to be top 5 in the state Boone and crocket. And it gives me hope that utahs moose could make a comeback. I'm still in disbelief that This happened for Jake. And I'm so happy it was him. Jake and I have experienced many magical days calling in moose in the fog and crisp morning air. Many memories that won't be forgotten.
Jake.. congrats brother. So stoked for you!

Knotty alder deer pedestal. Sent over to to do their magic. If you're serious about taxidermy and like good people, give Curtis a call. He's been one of my biggest supporters for some time now. And I know you'll be happy if you do.

This is a new concept I have been wanting to build. Rock pedestal base. Simple, clean and would go with most any colors at home. This was built so you can post a deer size shoulder mount on top of the rock. And or off of the fence post. The fence post is over 100 years old. The amount of color is amazing. It’s not your basic fence post. The wind, water, and sand has shaped this over the years. It was so solid with sap. That it never rotted away. It’s heavier than a newly cut tree. I’m curious what you all think about this design? I can do most all colors and shades as well. Let me know what you think?

that Eric over at put together. Mean looking cat brotha. Turned out awesome. The lichen on this grey Barnwood is amazing. For anyone that has one of my Ped’s with lichen. If you spray a little water on it occasionally. It will stay alive and maybe even grow a little bit. After the rain outside I watch some of it expand and color up. It’s pretty cool if you ask me.

This is one of those trees that you rarely stumble into. I’ve held onto this one for a long time. Waiting for the perfect project. This was built for from from the wood choice, to the tree this one stands out. Curtis from nailed it on the mounts. Thanks for looking to me to create a display for these two mule deer. I appreciate the work guys! And if you want to follow some good guys that get after it year after year, give them a follow.

sent over to to finish up with a full body sheep. The front panel was part of a barn I took down, the grandfather told me a story of his children shooting their 22s at cans up on the fence in front of it. If you look at the last pic, you can see all the holes. And you can see a couple actual bullets poking out the surface.
