Our clematis was needing better support, so we used some wood left over from our daughter's old broken playhouse to make something more sturdy!

We wanted something sort of modern and interesting, but simple as well. We both scoured the internet looking for mid-century inspired trellises, but nothing really wowed us. We're big Agatha Christie fans, and as we were watching Poirot one night, we got the inspiration we had been looking for!

We both love mid-century style still, but since watching this show and after several visits to over the last couple of years, we have been enamored with some elements of art deco style as well. I feel like the clean lines of this design merges the two pretty well! (We are letting this dry, then we'll try to coax the crazy clematis onto it.)

Finished this car recently and Emily and our daughter both wanted to know who it was for... we're keeping it as the "family car" so we can display it AND play with it whenever we want 😉

The color on this car is so fun, and the sparkle makes it even better! (See the second picture for the sparkly detail.)

We realized that we "left you hanging" after we posted about a mystery project MONTHS ago - we sincerely apologize to anyone who has been on the edge of their seat just waiting to find out what it was 😆

*drumroll*

Emily here! Not sure what to call it, but this is what Travis made for me, his crazy wife, when we needed a solution for our daughter's room. I bought this organizer for her to lay out her school clothes for the week... but there was no room in the closet. She had an empty corner, and I asked Travis if he could somehow hang it up (thinking, like, a hook in the ceiling or something) - but he whipped this up instead! It has been there for several months now, and fits perfectly in the space. Now you know what this contraption is!

Stay tuned for more - Travis has been out in the "woodshop" quite a bit this week 🙂

(There's actually a hint in the picture, but it's hard to tell what it is.)

A little side project... since we took out the console for refinishing, our living room has needed some additional storage (we wall mounted the TV and are using a really old shelf that Emily has had for years for game consoles, etc.) Since we've lived in this house (over six years) we've never had a place to store all of our records. So, Travis whipped up a simple table for the record player with some record storage underneath. We just used some stain we had on hand, but with our current setup there's just too many shades of brown going on... maybe we'll paint it soon! What color would look good?!

Hauled out this 8.5 foot hoss to begin restoration. This is the first step in the "built in" project for our long living room wall. Can't wait to see how pretty it is all shined up!

To the Curtis Mathes superfans we sincerely apologize, haha. This thing came with Emily's granny's house (the house we currently live in) because it was too big to move out. Some of the components didn't work and were not worth saving. After much discussion about what we wanted and needed for our living room, some modifications to the inside of this console to make it more functional are needed. Because Emily had some nostalgia attached to it, we're leaving the outside alone for the most part, just trying to restore it back to its former glory. Then Travis has designed some shelves for both sides that mimic the look of the console. It's going to be a great mid-century inspired wall with so much functionality, and we are excited to see it (slowly) come to fruition!

It's been hard to get a picture of our latest commission because it's so long (and so shiny!) This desk/table's butcher block top was the actual commission. We bought some temporary legs at but they just weren't strong enough, so Travis made this base with leftover wood from the top. The customer intends to eventually use the top on a standing desk base, but is having to do the project in stages. This base will be nice and sturdy until he's ready to make the switch!

Emily here! Finally trying out the .co woodworking apron I gifted Travis for Christmas! Today was super warm and we got to work (just a little) more on the pink car. We're already planning and dreaming about what else we can make this shade of pink! Swipe to see the detail on the front 🤩

It's finally time to reveal what we've been working on between trucks for months - a child's helper stool! It's a prototype we made for our own daughter, and we already have a few tweaks that we want to make to the design to make it a bit more functional before we start offering them for sale. But this thing is so cute! It folds up for storage, has clean lines and rounded edges for safety, and makes helping in the kitchen easier and more fun for kids by allowing them to be part of the action. We can also paint the legs any color. This was some extra paint we had laying around, but it looks good with the natural wood!
