This was a fun challenge I had recently. Carving a white oak fitting that turned 180° while rising 16" to make the railing continuous to eliminate having a post on the landing.
I'm installing balusters on this project this week and should have finished pictures of the whole stairway soon!

On this project, I had to make a skirt that mirrored the stairs and attach it to glass to make it look like it was part of the stairs. All the grain is running horizontal, making for some long miters! This was a new one for me, but it was a fun challenge. I'm glad to be done! Every 7 steps had over 100 pieces of wood, most of them mitered on 3 or more sides. There is also a ¼" channel where it meets the drywall to continue the flush look the rest of the millwork has in this house.

A fir fireplace mantel I just finished building and installing. It looks simple, but fitting that top shelf around the TV nook and keeping it tight all the way around was tough!
