Patio Extras

Patio Extras I started Patio Extras in 2015 as a retirement hobby business. I enjoy making things and found there are people who actually want to buy them.

I'm always building new things and this page will be where I showcase them. I occasionally take custom orders for tables or chairs, but I prefer to build things that please me. I'm not in this for the money, so my prices tend to be very low for such custom items, however this is the only way I can finance my tool addiction. Thanks for looking Scott Denham.

I whipped up a rustic book shelf out of a few very rough slabs for my daughter, Taylor. Once I planed the weather patina off, the wood was incredible. The bookcase is very rustic and I wasn't sure she would like it. It turns out she loved it.

After a couple more weeks, I finished the replacement barn for my wood storage.

Four or five years ago a snow storm collapsed my wood shed with my woodmizer in it. I was able to get the sawmill out without any damage to it. I finally decided to replace the structure. This is phase one.

I've been storing these bench frames for years and as I cleaned out the old storage shed I found dried Redwood slabs perfect for benches. This was the building process.

After an absence of about three years, Patio Extras is back in the milling business. Rima has been making sawmills for a long time. This is the R36G HD. They recently added a hydraulic deck option. I ordered this mill and waited five months for it to be assembled and shipped to my house. Last Saturday, I had a bunch of guys over to assemble the mill. The factory assemble the hydraulic deck, tested it and the disassemble it for packing. When I received it, it was literally in hundred or pieces. It came with no instructions for the hydraulic deck. The company sent me a video of the unit being tested before it was shipped. The first day with the big crew we were able to complete the trailer with the tires mounted. It took me four more days to mount the hydraulic systems and run the hoses. Detailed step by step directions would have cut that time in half.

After three years, Patio Extras is back to milling. I ordered a Rima RS36G Delux. It arrived last week and I had a few guys help me with assembly last Saturday. The company only had instruction for the basic mill and trailer. The only instructions we had for the hydraulics was a video from the factory when they tested the systems. Needless to say, we spent alot of time figuring out placement of parts. After the first day we got the trailer assembled, not nearly as far as I hoped. I worked alone for the next four days to complete it.
