Chris cant believe I am posting this because the actual sanding paint job I did on the ceiling was “not great” which is why I did a quick driveby at the end.
Hey! I went to art school not trade school. Although I am thinking about apprenticeship with a joint compound guy… just follow them around on their stilts… they would love that.
Timeline:
Oct 2025: leak in Evies bedroom ceiling. Hole popped up in the roof because nails were too close or too far?
Chris goes to attic to inspect. His foot falls through the plaster ceiling of our 1873 home like Chevy Chase. He was fine. I held in my laugh as I hung to the stepladder. Barely.
I clean up the historic insulation disaster, wash all her clothes and hang a white sheet to help us pretend it didnt happen.
Xmas 2025: we are gonna tackle her ceiling over holiday break.
Chris tears his achilles at wrestling practice.
Dark Cloud hovers over our 🏠
Santa didnt come. This year was definitely Krampus.
March 2026:
Chris’ foot is better. He is walking. Spring is coming.
We fill in the hole with slats and I take very professional drawings of measurements of the kidney shaped hole for him to cut wood pieces to puzzle over.
Then Joint compound.
Then orbital sand with the shop vac.
Then more joint compound.
Then sand.
April 2026:
Enough is enough its fine and paint.
It wasnt enough but it happened.
I vacuum and clean everything. Mattress, floor boards, baseboard heaters, ceiling fan, etc.
