Refab Wood

Refab Wood Builders of high end commercial and residential furniture using locally sourced hardwoods, metals and reclaimed material.

We began with an idea - these old barns and neglected buildings falling down all over the countryside still have potential. Furthermore, what many people think of as quality furniture is often mass produced with poor craftsmanship. We created Refab Wood to provide hand-built, high-quality furniture to whoever wants it - furniture that will outlast whoever buys it, to be passed down to future gener

ations: Heirloom Quality Furniture. Our first reclamation was an old barn (circa 1860s) in Youngsville, NC. Through the hot and humid summer of 2012, we took it down the same way it was erected - piece by piece with our bare hands. We couldn't believe how heavy and dense these pine boards were, and have since discovered firsthand the unique and desirable qualities of Old Growth Pine. Many boards had large gouge marks and we later learned their purpose - the collection of pine sap to create a staple of 19th century industry: turpentine. Along with tar and pitch, this made up a large part of North Carolina's early economy, earning us the moniker, “The Tar Heel State.”

Since then, Refab Wood has reclaimed many other barns, and crafted hundreds of pieces. Our furniture ranges from reclaimed wood, to recycled industrial materials, to locally-sourced hardwoods. Whether the design is rustic-inspired or possesses a modern flare, we pride ourselves in the ability to bring our customers' visions to life.

Flash back to some awesome conference tables we made a couple of years ago. We bought the entire tree to make these! Two at 10' and two at 18'! We book matched the slabs to make roughly 4-5' wide, 2.5" thick tops. The bases are hefty 1/2" steel.

Just got stain on this and wanted to share. It's a baseball display for the balls from a client's son's baseball games. A sentimental piece already and showcased with some really stunning white oak heart.

Sneak peek into the table top we just started. Some gorgeous heartwood from this tree!
