🛠 Ambrosia Maple Writing Desk🛠

🛠 I made this for one of my best friends who is starting her Masters program and needed a solid work space. It features two drawers for ample storage and a cord grommet in the back of the desk to consolidate and run her power cords through. I love the amount of character and how bold the ambrosia maple is and how it’ll spark creativity throughout her endeavors!

🛠 Spalted Ambrosia Maple L-Shaped Electronic Lifting Desk 🛠

🛠 This is truly my bread and butter. I love how live edges and the uniqueness of hardwood can take a relatively simplistic design and make it beautiful. The base that the client purchased can electronically lift or lower depending on his needs!

🛠 Black Walnut and Blue Epoxy Mirror Table🛠

🛠 If you watch my stories you got to see this piece come to life step by step and I’m so ecstatic about the result. This design is symmetrical using two walnut slabs I found at that were one sawblade apart from each other on the tree (hence the term “book match”). The client wanted a Brooklyn pipe bar-height base that gives the table a rustic, welcoming vibe that I’m sure will host many a dinner/game night.

🛠 Live-Edge Walnut with Maple and Black Epoxy Bar-top Inlay🛠

🛠 This client wanted a unique bar-top as a statement piece in their butler’s pantry/beverage station located just off the kitchen. As the foundation for the station, this piece brings a fun yet elegant element to hosting friends and family in their new home. They loved the idea of a rich walnut wood grain and a contrasting live edge curly maple center strip. I used carbon black epoxy to unite the pieces and emphasize the wood grain and texture. I can’t wait to see this station when they’re finished decorating and officially open for business! 🍸🥂🥃😉 Cheers!

🛠 Walnut Dart Board Cabinet 🛠

🛠 Our cousin reached out to me with hopes to surprise her husband with a dart board for a special anniversary gift and I was thrilled to be the man for the job! The gorgeous walnut elevated a traditionally casual game into a luxury piece they’ll be holding onto forever. It features dart holders, a scoreboard and farm-style doors with a locking latch. Knowing this couple, I know there will be a lot of fierce competition with this board for years to come ☺️

🛠 Burled Maple and Carbon Epoxy Dining Table🛠

🛠 I loved the contrast in this table! I’ve always thought that this darker carbon black epoxy is one of the best aesthetics for these rivers. For this table the client wanted live edges on both the inside and the outside edges and it has to be one of the most unique looks I’ve ever seen! The burls on the outer edge have pointy little tips that can be painful to bump into so I rounded those off with 150 grit sand paper and then cleaned them out with a wire wheel until they were textured enough to still be beautiful but also dulled enough to be practical, safe and comfortable. I finished the table with my classic Poly-X Satin and I think it speaks for itself!

🛠 This is my first piece in my new shop! I might post some pictures later but I now have a separate space for my woodworking and my finish work (like epoxy and painting). This makes my pipeline so much smoother and my product that much better. I should be able to double or triple my timelines now which means more posts for you guys!

🛠 Ambrosia Maple Church Entry Desk🛠

🛠 This project was massive! Built for the entryway of an equally massive church, this desk sits 11 feet long from tip-to-tip and features a desk-height working area for the hosts and a bar-height shelf for guests. Additionally, it features a large peninsula counter allowing for 1:1 conversations and wheel chair accessibility. It has four large shelves for storage and wire-routing grommets for passing computer and power cables through. In total I used over 120 sq. ft of solid 1.5” ambrosia maple to complete this. I started by planing, cutting and joining the individual panels and then assembling them in order. Although I tend to be a purist and love the color and contrast of un-stained, natural ambrosia maple, the client chose to go with a Honey stain that would pair well with the space they’ll be remodeling. Finally, I finished it off with my trusty Poly-X Satin to give it a beautiful durable finish that will last the heavy use.

🛠 Since this piece was so large and technical with many angle joints, I sat down with a friend of mine and we built it out in scale using the program . This saved me so much time and allowed me to bypass many costly mistakes that are inevitable when you are working with such large pieces and very precise angles. So shout out to for her hard work and help!

🛠 Reclaimed Heart Pine Herringbone Bedside Tables🛠

🛠 This wood is OLD! I bought this from a man who takes down old barns and repurposes the wood. This wood came from a barn built in 1914!

🛠 Working with reclaim is definitely more tricky and can amplify minor mistakes. You can’t sand/resurface/make extra cuts if you want to preserve the natural reclaimed texture that took so many years for the elements to create. Despite these challenges, this set of tables turned out better than I could’ve hoped. Now that I’ve got the gist of working with reclaimed wood, I’ll be making Quinn’s mom a similar set that’s even more refined and beautiful!

🛠Back to nerding out about heart pine: Heart pine is extremely rare nowadays due to how much logging we do. Back in the day “heart pine” was found in native long-leaf pines. Due to deforestation there is only approximately 3% of that forest left. So pretty much the only way to find it now is in repurposing it from old buildings. I absolutely love the smell of fresh-cut heart pine and how it fills my shop for days after using it.

🛠 Burled Maple Epoxy River Coffee Table and End Table Set🛠

🛠 My client requested a coffee table with matching end tables that incorporated light blue epoxy rivers, lighter-toned wood, and nautical rope. Apart from those specifications, she let me run with my creativity.

The burled maple makes it look so three-dimensional as if runoff water is flowing down a canyon into this foaming river. The legs are canted in to give it even more of a unique look and mounted using stainless steel brackets underneath. Additionally I did my staple C-channel underneath both maple pieces to ensure that those burls don’t cause the table to warp.

🛠 Pro Tip: Don’t buy a small hardware piece from Hong Kong 🤦‍♂️ I was delayed from finishing and posting this for weeks because I needed those small brass clasps specific to the rope thickness to come in. Next time I’ll order that well before I start!

🛠 XL Walnut L-Shaped Hydraulic-Lift Desk with Computer Parts Epoxy River and LED Lighting Inlay🛠

🛠 Whew this was a doozy! This project started with two gorgeous black walnut slabs sourced from Boone, NC that had been air-dried for 3 years. I made the L-Shape for and surfaced the slabs before routing out the sloped river. Then, to inlay the adjustable LED lighting and make sure that my client could change out the light strip if it ever went out, I routed out a 1” x 1” ledge underneath the edge closest to the seating side of the desk. The result is an awesome back-lit display of the epoxy river and its contents. The computer parts in the epoxy River are old CPU’s and RAM sticks spaced out chronologically from left to right dating back to 1996 when he first got started with computers. He calls this “A Float down Memory Lane”

⚒Get To Know Me: Part 1⚒

How I got started:

Growing up on a ranch in Montana, I’d always had a love for woodworking— the tangible success and failure, the need for precision, and the smell of sawdust. I always enjoyed it as a hobby no matter what else I was doing at that time in my life and had built almost every piece of furniture Quinn and I own (with Quinn’s decor advice and help of course!).

When I left the Air Force in the summer of 2020 I had plans to do drone piloting/surveying. However, in the midst of the pandemic all of those doors were temporarily closed and I was forced to look elsewhere for income. I had a lot of time on my hands and built a couple of small coffee tables with live edge and epoxy and sold them on Facebook and to friends before I realized that this could actually be something worth investing in.

I started adding to my tools and equipment, accrued a garage space to work in, and officially filed for my LLC in September. Now six months and an awesome marketing intern later, we have a beautiful official website, solid lead generation and a constant flow of quality projects that I’m excited to work on coming in and out the door! I have big plans for expansion and will constantly be growing and adapting as I continue to make quality pieces of furniture for homes out of nature’s unique designs. Thank you all for the support and allowing me to pop up on your feed!

Cheers,
Casey
