Proud to share that our contractor, Jen, chaired a committee meeting for the Building Industry Oversight Committee last week! Jen's dedication to our industry goes beyond the job site; she's constantly working to strengthen standards and build lasting relationships across the trade. We're so happy to be a part of the CDBIA family!

Building Industry Oversight Committee (BIOC) is a monthly meeting of construction industry leaders with vital government entities that help homeowners build the American dream so they can enjoy their slice of paradise.

Thank you CDBIA Vice President Jen Cirella, Calista Kitchen & Bath for chairing our meeting today.

This is a monthly meeting that helps keep the building industry, community development with planning & zoning, permitting and inspecting and utilities communicating to keep the flow of new construction as smooth as it can be, especially through these volatile times.

Today we discussed Florida bills affecting the building industry, openings in the building department, CCU price increase going into effect March 31st 4:01pm, DOH/DEP, and working together for some of the opportunities we are having in our community.

The BIOC meeting helps us have conversations to make sure we are able work together for those who want to build and rebuild.

Dive into the flavors of fall with these Roasted Carrots topped with sweet Candied Pecans and tangy Goat Cheese. A side dish that’s not only bursting with color but also rich in taste. Perfect for cozy dinners or holiday gatherings, it’s a recipe that’s sure to impress.



Roasted Carrots with Candied Pecans

Ingredients

Carrots: 2 pounds, peeled

[ ] Brown sugar: 1/2 cup

[ ] Unsalted butter: 4 tablespoons, cut into pats

[ ] Salt: 1 teaspoon

[ ] Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon

[ ] Cinnamon: 1/2 teaspoon

[ ] Goat cheese: 4 ounces, crumbled

[ ] Fresh thyme: 1 tablespoon, to garnish

Candied Pecans:

[ ] Butter: 2 tablespoons

[ ] Maple syrup: 3 tablespoons

[ ] Brown sugar: 1 tablespoon

[ ] Pecans: 1 cup, roughly chopped

[ ] Flaked sea salt: 1/4 teaspoon

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.

Arrange the carrots in a single layer on the baking sheet.

Sprinkle with brown sugar, butter pats, salt, pepper, and cinnamon.

Roast for 50-60 minutes, turning the carrots 3-4 times, until they are tender and caramelized.

While the carrots roast, make the candied pecans.

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add maple syrup, brown sugar, and pecans.

Stir for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens.

Remove from heat, stir in flaked sea salt, and set the pecans aside.
Once the carrots are roasted, transfer them to a serving dish.

Sprinkle with crumbled goat cheese, candied pecans, and fresh thyme.
