Leaning into the dark and moody side with this latest refinished offering, a striking Federal-style 4-drawer dresser that feels both timeless and bold. Finished in Sherwin-Williams Tricorn Black with warm Kona-stained drawers, this solid wood vintage piece has so much depth and character.

Oh….this one is a beauty.

2025 is witnessing a valued return to sophisticated and timeless dark wood. Decorators are tired of bleached and bland wood. Dark wood furniture is elegant, rich and striking. This timeless chest of drawers has been finished with a dark walnut stain and protected with multiple top coats. Underneath is a beautiful mahogany that has been protected with a shellac based wash coat. Walnut is a rich brown that works with both vintage and modern interiors as a contrast statement piece or a seamless dramatic pairing with moody deep colors.

The interior of each drawer is simply beautiful. Each drawer has been sanded smooth and nourished with a generous coating of oil and wax. The drawers move effortlessly and the underside has been hard waxed to ensure years of ease. The craftsmanship of this dresser ensures that it will be a long-lasting addition to your home. It is solid not only in weight but in design. To enhance its appeal and beauty, the drawer handles have been replaced with modern curved oil-rubbed bronze hardware with copper color accent.

This dresser would not only accentuate a dramatic bedroom, but perhaps it becomes a focal point as well as a functional piece to your foyer or living room. It is the perfect size as well. Wherever it lands, it promises to elevate a room. It is a historic piece with modern sophistication.

I can honestly say that the pictures and video don’t highlight the beauty as much as I had hoped. It simply looks better in person.

Unlike most refinishers, I do not ignore dents and dings and label them lazily as “part of the history” or list it as “character”. I address and repair every little ding, dent, and scratch I can find. Is it perfect? Darn close from my perspective. You might find an imperfection if you’re looking for it, but please note, I’ve put my best effort and passion into this piece.

It has been quite some time since I have posted, but I’m “back in the saddle again”..... I refinished this piece late last year.

This is a solid mahogany wood vintage chest of drawers. This piece has been built to be passed down from one home to another, and I am proud to say it will not be discarded in a landfill. I always wonder who enjoyed this before, what memories this brought to someone, and what memories the new owner will enjoy.

This is not made with mdf, particle board, laminate, or any type of fake cheap wood common in today’s furniture. This is quality construction, right up to the wooden dowels highlighted in the top piece. The mahogany top has been stripped and then sanded with multiple gradations to reveal its beautiful chatoyance. I then sealed the top with multiple coats of water based clear coat for protection. Vintage dressers were commonly made with mahogany wood because it has minimal expansion and contraction, and is also moisture resistant. Again, quality over quantity is best every time.

The sides and frame were stripped, primed and painted in the popular northwoods green. A dark brown wax applied to accentuate the fluted details on the body, and to provide warmth and depth.

All of the drawers were crafted with dovetail joints. I have applied wax to the base of the drawers to ensure easy movement. The inside of the drawers are beautiful; they have been cleaned and protected with orange feed and wax. There was no need to cover the bottom of the drawers with paper (unless you so desire). The drawer pulls were absolutely disgusting as you can see in the picture below. I absolutely love the transformation and beauty revealed with a bit of elbow grease. You would be hard pressed to find something similar nowadays.

Soft. Silky. Solid Cherry.

Satin finish is soft to the touch and the eyes. This solid cherry dresser will last your lifetime and then some; not only because of its craftsmanship, but this type of effortless light finish will adorn most any bedroom.

This chest of drawers has been thoroughly cleaned, meticulously sanded to bare wood and then lightly refinished with a beautiful tan wash. Although cherry is an extremely durable hardwood, several coats of polycrylic were applied to the top and cabinet box. The drawers glide easily and the guides have been waxed to ensure years of ease. The interior of the drawers have been cleaned and protected with an oil/wax product. In addition the face of each drawer has been protected with several layers of Briwax. The side of each drawer has a soft floral design. New hardware has been installed on each drawer.

This is a vintage dresser. There are minor blemishes, dings, etc. however these are all parts of its history. I have made every attempt to preserve its aged beauty. No smoke or any other smells.

This beautiful mahogany 5 drawer chest of drawers will look stunning in most any decor. This has been hand sanded to bare wood and then preserved in its natural state without stain. The case has been hand painted in Limousine Black enamel by Sherwin Williams. The top has been preserved with Odies Oil. Everything else has been protected with multiple coats of Minwax polycrylic satin finish top coat for years of protection. The inside drawers are beautiful; I could not bring myself to cover them with paper or liners. The interior of each dovetailed drawer has been treated with an oil/wax product and each drawer has waxed below for ease of use. Matching new solid curved oil-rubbed bronze hardware has been installed on each drawer.
