Seandel Iris Gardens Just irises - bearded and beardless, tall, medians and arilbreds, Louisianas, pseudatas, Japanese, and spurias. 1500+ varieties.

We are a small commercial iris garden, situated on a corner city lot in Plano, Texas. We are licensed and inspected annually by the Texas Department of Agriculture - TDA license #286027. There are over 1500 varieties of irises, including Arilbred, Spuria, Louisiana, Tall bearded, Medians, Japanese, and a few species, growing in our beds. We are a display garden for the Aril Society International a

nd the Median Iris Society, both Sections of The American Iris Society. Visitors are welcome year round, but especially during bloom season, which is roughly from the middle of March thru early May, with peak bloom the middle of April. Come early and come often as different varieties are in bloom each week. Orders usually open early in the year (check post for actual time each year) and are accepted through the end of August. Limited potted iris are also available on site for instant take-home. Irises for sale are posted in the current year albums, with prices. Orders accepted via mail, email or phone. Payments by Paypal, check/money order, or cash. Delivery is normally in August and September, but we will dig as early as mid July for our northern customers - Texas is very hot then, so prefer to do it later whenever possible. We give 10% of our annual rhizome sales to support Tierra Madre Horse Sanctuary located in Cave Creek, AZ. They give a loving forever home to unwanted and abused horses - currently 30 horses. Reblooming 1//4/2025. Had to cut before the winter storm that is coming tomorrow arrives. At least they will get their cold requirement for this year!
15 cultivars cut, with 6 more not cut either just finished or just beginning to put up stalks (no color).
Tall vase has buds of Harvest of Memories, and six stalks of Destry Rides Again. Purple bloom is a NOID, buds of Double Overtime, UFO, and Black Magic, white one is Autumn ivory.
Short vase contains mostly SDB's - Forever Orange, Blue Eyed Girl, Little Surfer Girl, Blue Oasis, Sugar Maple, a yellow Cindy Rust seedling, a yellow NOID and the MTB Lady Emma.

Have you wanted to grow some arilbred iris? Well here is your change to get some.
Tomorrow, July 15th at 9AM CDT, is the start of the Aril Society Plant Sale. Over 150 cultivars and 1200 plants are awaiting new homes. There are lots of easy-to-grow arilbred varieties as well as a few arils for the more experienced aril/arilbred growers. New and newer introductions and lots of varieties not in our sales ever before or for many years.

Well, it has been raining unexpected events., with clouds on the horizon.

I may not even get the 2023 albums created. I may instead post for sales on the Backyard Iris Sellers FB group. We'll see;
I may not get my albums created theis year - we'll see. I may have to offer plants through email posts tothe Backyard Iris Sellers group FB page instead. ime will tell.

PLEASE NOTE prices have changed from last year.:
dwarfs/medians/arilbreds are $7 each
Tall bearded are $9 each
Louisianas/spurias are $12 each.
There are no Japanese or pseudatas available this year.
i grow many more than are in the albums, so if you are looking for a specific iris, ask - the worst I can say is "I don't grow it."

WE WILL BE OPENING FOR 2023 ORDERS VERY SOON - barring unexpected events. Thank you for your patience.

I have been up to my ears for the last 5 months getting everything ready for the 2023 AIS Convertion held in Grapevine and hosted by 0je of the clubs I belong to. - the Iris Society of Dallas I was one of the tour gardens, so mny hours in the garden weeding, grooming, etc. the beds. Itended yesterday and I'll be working on catalog stuff very soon - there are some Convention follow-up tasks still needed to be done. I also have iris shows to judge and enter this weekend and judges training to do in OKC next weekend. Things should get back to normal speed after April, plus I can get a better handle on available quantities post bloom.

Our first bearded iris bloomed today!
Senorita Frog - Donald Spoon 2002 - SDB, height 10" (25 cm), Early to midseason bloom and rebloom. Light yellowish olive green, falls with deeper spot; beards light lavender blue, orange in throat; ruffled, flared.

Not my photo - we got heavy rain before I could get back out to photograph it.

Such a cutie and a reliable rebloomer here in my part of Texas.
